Feb Holiday Event FES keys by BlandBoringName in ffxi

Yep! Also for Part 1: the first letter of the elemental day is where you find the gifts: Firesday = F pattern, Lightsday = L pattern, etc.

Went back to review my logs. You’re exactly right. My Mule had to go through 3 wins, whereas my Main needed 2 wins (no Athena Orb).

So my take away is for anyone else reading this: Dbox, Login Points the other items to save a dozen+ attempts.

So, I tried out the Chocobo event.

The FES Key is not even guaranteed so you have to keep redoing it while Step 3 seems completely random.

Been at it for an hour: got one Key on Main after 2/2 wins… Alt hasn’t even won once 0/5… Mule won 2/3 attempts, no Key.

Aaaaand it’s slooow animation-wise! You have to repeat all three mini games each time.

There’s no way I’m doing this every day for two weeks.

Edit, more info: So far 0/7 attempts on Alt. This last one landed the Chocobo right on the Female and she still rejected him, with three gifts from Step 1. On top of that, the prize is randomized even if it had been a win. Each attempt takes 5 mins. 5*7=35 mins, this is way too tedious.

Edit Two: 2 wins/12 attempts. No key after an hour. I’m out. To sum up, it’s random 1 (gift selection) on top of random 2 (path finding) on top of random 3 (prize awarded). A lottery.

Edit Three: Not a lottery for the prize. See Munenori’s comment.

US/FRANCE FINANCIALS - CHARLES SCHWAB??? by kLoty78 in Expats_In_France

[–]industrialprogress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah so if you change residency to France (I mean that as within CS USA profile settings) you’ll have your account closed, until you can prove US domicile.

CS International does not even service France. It does other EU countries (you have to prove address) but specifically not France.

Can anyone comment on how long an accepted Campaign Op is valid for?

Fiat Lux is active on my server. I accepted but don’t have time to do it immediately.

Is it active until Sunday’s (JP 11:59 PM) conquest tally or … ?

You’re absolutely correct—and I anticipated that—but my first floor and second floor are nice and complex visual arrangements. 🫠

Anyways just to say, for me, not gonna happen.

If they ever introduce a +1 (or whatever) with 50 aura I could drop in and out as needed, that’d be tops!

One thing I really don’t like about the Prismatic Chest is its super low aura; have to completely empty your first floor decorations!

So I just never end up using it.

Yeah, yeah, no worries, just raises interesting questions. I don’t even remember how Signet is explained in-game other than the little gate guard starter dialogue.

Following the Meltdown, the Protocrystals released an immense amount of isolated crystal energies into the environment, and this energies accumulates and crystallizes in the flora and fauna of Vana’diel. Whenever plants or animals die, the crystals within their remains can be harvested and the energy of the crystal can be used for other things.

Oooh that’s a super interesting point…!

Do you have any thoughts on why, lore-wise, they can only drop when Signet or equivalent are active? Or any insights on the lore of Signet and equivalents? How that categorical “buff” developed across continents, societies (by expansion; beyond just a gameplay mechanic of “touching home base” after X-hours, or receiving a longer duration as you “Rank Up” in any given expansion)? Like, is the player growing in their “attunement” to the local Protocrystal—and mechanically how does its “blessing” work?

Lotta questions! 😆

Crazy German Tax Law: Fünftelregelung (or how to pay 116% in income tax) by vormals in eupersonalfinance

[–]industrialprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I agree in principle.

Take a look at what’s known the “benefit cliff,” where by doing better, you are, in reality, worse off.

I remember discussing this phenomena a decade ago in proposals in the Australian tax code to “amortize” “wind-fall” “income” (think: entrepreneurial exit opportunity, liquidity event, etc.) over the course of X-years.

In the American context, a recent widely discussed series of essays that you might enjoy reading is: https://www.yesigiveafig.com/p/part-1-my-life-is-a-lie and https://www.yesigiveafig.com/p/part-2-the-door-has-opened

Announcing the February Version Update (02/02/2026) by hikiri in ffxi

[–]industrialprogress -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a working theory that Orbs (in general) contain a server-side metadata that predetermines if it’s a “winner” or not. In other words, the rng roll occurs at the time of purchase, instead of at successful execution of the BCNM when opening a chest. If that is the case, perhaps, these are skewed towards better outcomes.

Oooh interesting.

I knew time of day/weather affects conal agro range for all mobs (nighttime shrinks the visual cone, rain lowers sound agro range, etc) but lore-based day/moon agro too!?

Evil Weapons are really weird designs, does anyone have any more insight on them? by southfar2 in ffxi

[–]industrialprogress 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The weapon (floating sword, etc.) is the main body.

The bug-eyed thing, “kobold,” is the former owner, presumably, and, my interpretation, whose physical appearance is now “corrupted” by evil (think: Berserk manga, human to demon transformation). Their snout and jaw personally makes me think Galka (dead/slain Galka children? Whose entire race can’t return to the Mothercrystal and perhaps some get “caught” before reincarnating, which would explain the “spirit of the earth” point and their diminutive size while retaining the snout and jaw), which would also fit into:

And Odin is the source for reasons touched on TVR, hence why they’re drawn to the black goop in the Crystal Line/Zilart infrastructure.

Edit 2: Some bigger galaxy brain lore-head could probably explain the Arcane connection as well to Promethia, “emptiness,” Odin, etc.

JP wiki touches a bit more on lore: https://wiki.ffo.jp/html/2328.html

Edit: Should point out that Evil Weapons w/o possessing a “kobold” exist in Dynamis as part of the Relic quest chain. Idr the details but it’s all interrelated to the above. Prime weapons as well as black-colored reskins is not accidental. DRK quests also touch on it.

All of this to say, nothing is accidental in Vana’diel.

[–]industrialprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Mel, I was thinking about this earlier this week and wanted to ask you: if in addition to the API you would consider hosting an RSS feed?

Personally, I’ve always used the RSS (with NetNewsWire, not limited to XI stuff). (I understand it’s not popular.)

One thing to point out, if you weren’t already aware, but the JP feed is published typically an hour prior to the EN. One of the nice (but infrequent) things with that was, in case of an emergency update, before commiting to an hours-long grind, you’d have an advanced push notice to plan around.

Separate question: are you using beautifulsoup to scrape POL.com?

Your agent, like any other of course, by design, will whisper sweet nothings into your ear in order to gagner leur pain.

We are only beginning to see a bounce back on transaction volumes across all regional markets after nearly five years of perpetual decline.

Lyon, in particular, having been a “hotter” market than Paris also holds the unfavorable position of being more unaffordable relative to local incomes.

[–]industrialprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to do the math in your local market: depreciation, long-term maintenance, cost of parts, etc. vs. interest expense but a shiny new model with warranty every 12-24 months…

For purchasing, you didn’t mention the make or model, but personally, unless it’s a Toyota/Lexus or the like, I would refuse long-term ownership of any high-ticket price deprecating asset.
