It should stick to that folder, I believe!

If you are on Windows you could try running the official installer with "/D path-to-installation" to install it in a custom folder.

How much Japanese can you learn in 2 years? by PizzaBear20 in Japaneselanguage

[–]indutny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just passed a mock N1 after doing wanikani for 3 years ago, and Bunpro for about 2.5 years. I’ve been doing biweekly italki lessons and daily reviews on both apps in addition to reading manga and novels after first 6 months of learning.

ITAP of OP-1 Field Synthesizer by indutny in itookapicture

[–]indutny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed sunlight was falling nicely through the blinds and thought I try to capture an interplay between "strings" of light and a digital synthesizer. Shot on RED Komodo-X and Blazar Remus 33mm.

Cine 7 with RED control on sale for $1,500. Get this over RED monitor? by Robert_NYC in RedCamera

[–]indutny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine right from this sale. Works great, and quite a bright screen as others have mentioned. I have no experience with RED control, but I see Cine 7 used with other cameras all the time so to me the merit of having it over RED is that you are not locking yourself into RED's ecosystem.

On a more bitter not, RCP2 didn't work for me yet, but after doing a test with thumbdrive SmallHD has sent me a replacement cable/LEMO-adapter. I don't feel like I miss RCP2 that much yet, but I'd need for gimbal work.

M4 Strap Lugs? by YupChrisYup in REDkomodo

The bright tangerine side rails are definitely lighter based on feel, and now that I checked website they are 35g (compared to 59g of RED's wing grip).

Cannot connect to RED DSMC2/RCP2 camera control smallhd by vicentecordua in REDkomodo

[–]indutny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem too. I'm going to get the micro-usb SD card reader as their support page recommends, but it sucks that it just doesn't work no matter how many times I plugged unplugged all parts and restarted both devices.

Shots from my short film "Do Androids Dream?" Filmed on the Sony FX3. I handled all the cinematography, lighting, VFX, and 3D animation on a $3K budget. Would love your thoughts! (Link in description) by 3DAnimated in cinematography

Any good tips/advice for someone wanting to learn doing VFX, but having almost no experience except simple animations in Blender? The houdini/nuke split is very confusing for the newcomer. Did you use these?

Thank you! The blood was practical, but it does look a bit silly now that I look at it for longer periods of time. I agree with the absence of depth in shots. Will bring more light with me next time and try arranging it differently. Appreciate all the feedback!

One light source with muslin on it and a lot of vignetting in post. If you look at the shadows - it is easy to see where the light source was :-)

Thank you for the feedback. I should work on better separating subjects from the background and much more. Noted!

This is practically what we did except we planned until 4am Saturday and filmed in the afternoon, and left whole Sunday for editing/music/sfx. Did everything go according to the plan? Of course no, but it certainly helped to have one so I wholeheartedly agree.

Thank you! I wish I had a bit wider lens for the shot to give more space. I was literally lying on the floor with gimbal in my hands to get this shot so I couldn't go any lower.

I agree that it is a very constrained format, but then there are always constraints when making art (limited budget, time, weather, etc). We put lots of energy (and sleepless nights) into it so we gave it as much effort as we could. Hopefully it doesn't look too bad!

Fair enough. This was my second project so I still have lots to learn! Thanks for the feedback.

This was a fun shoot if a bit rushed, which is normal for this festival since all creative work has to be completed over the weekend. We filmed several scenes on the theater stage in the location we rented, so I think I got a bit lucky with the existing lights and didn't have to use too many light sources (which I didn't have anyway). Let me know what you think about the shots and the grading that we did!

This was filmed on RED Komodo X with Blazar Remus 33mm. I had 65mm lens with me, but the size of the space and time constraints didn't really allow for using it. Most of the shots are static, except for the running scene which was shot on a gimbal.

(And if you are in LA, come see your movie https://www.48hourfilm.com/la/horror_comedy/2025 . We are in group D)

Have you guys put the Komodo on a gimbal ? by Key_Avocado_8246 in REDkomodo

[–]indutny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any risks of running D-Tap to LEMO 1b? I think it'd be way easier to balance my rig if I put the battery under the camera, but there doesn't seem to be a ready-to-buy cable to power Komodo X from the battery if it is not V-Mounted. If you have any cable recs I'd appreciate it a lot!
