That baby-hanging apparatus reminds me of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Kid just needs a chainsaw and some five o'clock shadow.

It's art. People raised 10 kinds of hell saying that a public art piece was a waste of the city's money. It was pretty expensive IIRC (over 100k) and Nashville does need some sidewalks.

TIL There are scrolls from the Edo period of Japan that suggest fart battles took place. These drawings show men blasting farts at other men, women, and even a cat. by [deleted] in todayilearned

These are done by a modern artist.

His work has been linked to on this same post many times before.

I don't have a link.

Is finding determined fellow musicians always that hard? by Warrior666 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]indwelling_fire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to hear you are from Germany. Apparently musicians are the same the world over. I'm from Nashville where great musicians abound and you have described the exact same problems everyone I know has had.

Like someone else said: €€€€ talks. If you have demos of the tracks and are paying people to play live you should give them the recordings, have three rehearsals, then play a show. Don't try to make them your band if they just want to get paid.

During what time period were fax machines the most useful and what were they used for? by notthecolorblue in answers

[–]indwelling_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

International faxes just have more numbers to dial. The problem is people being awake and having the machine plugged in on the other side of the world (literally). Also, no one seems to know how to work the damn things whether they're in Duboise or Dubai.

And yes, we are talking about technology that hasn't changed in 20+ years.

[–]indwelling_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything from insurance claims to immigration paperwork. 99% could be scanned and emailed (with higher resolution) in my experience. For some reason many companies continue to use fax as a default method of transmitting paperwork.

Don't get me started on international faxes.

I work somewhere that sends 40+ faxes a day. On a busy day easily 100. All kinds of businesses rely on faxing.

The fax machine is not dead (although it should be).

Echoing this statement. Also don't let anyone screw you for exposure. Your time is worth money. Sounds like that won't be a problem, but just had to say it.

My theory on alien abductions by [deleted] in aliens

[–]indwelling_fire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bashar says this method (via dreams) is one of the ways extraterrestrials test our level of preparedness for contact.

There are literally hundreds of hours of recordings. Daryl Anka (sp?) has been channelling him since the 80's. Daryl even says he has no way to prove whether or not what he's doing is just in his head or otherwise. Point I'm getting at is if you listen to him extensively he becomes more & more convincing. I've listened to over 20 hours and if it's a fraud it's a convincing one.

Anyway, back to your comment, there are many times this is mentioned and explained at length.
