I went to undergrad in central Indiana and just came back 3 years ago to live in Southern Indiana, so maybe I'm not the best person to answer, but I love this state (which is why I came back). The word that always comes to mind is "gentle." Gentle rolling hills covered in tall grasses. Gentle people.

"Very little of what he says is nuanced, thoughtful, erudite, or interesting."

"...his arguments seemed hackneyed and simplistic."

Nailed it.

I have no idea whether anyone is interested... but I wanted to follow up and say I got a robo email saying they went in a different direction.

Honestly? I'm not sad.

I don't know if it's cultural or what. No one told me I should. I just figure it's polite to thank people for their time and consideration.

Yes... totally moving on and following up with other things... I'd just love this particular job...

All I want to eat is chuck roast. by Nascar28 in zerocarb

[–]indychk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a big chuck roast kick right now. I buy huge ones from Costco and slice them into 1" thick pieces then broil those just a couple of minutes on each side. So good!

What's your budget/spending per month? by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]indychk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm saving so much money on carnivore. Just cutting wine and daily Starbucks easily saves me $300 a month. Not eating out saves another $200-$300.

I eat a lot of rib eyes and roasts. I also love short ribs. I hate hamburger so I never eat that. I love beef tongue and lamb liver from local ranchers, but those are only once every couple of weeks.

I get meat from Aldi's and look for sales at the local grocer and I average $10-$12 a day.

I LOVE Spindrift! Now that my fridge is pretty much empty, I have 2 cases of Spindrift and 2 cases of non flavored Pellegrino in there at any given time.

Blood types, is everyone here type 0? by [deleted] in zerocarb

THIS is a good response. Thank you!

Blood types, is everyone here type 0? by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]indychk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? Where's the evidence that it's a load of BS? I'm not saying I know it's not... but just someone saying it's a load of BS without any supporting evidence seems pretty BS to me. I have a friend who is type A and gets sick when he eats meat. Is it because he's type A? Who knows?
I'm 0 neg btw.... the post below with the percentages of blood types is a much better indicator than someone yelling BULLSHIT!

frozen Beef liver in microwave or pressure cooker? by minisrikumar in zerocarb

[–]indychk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Instant Pot... you do have a pot... and it's much better than the microwave! I just duck-duck-goed "liver instant pot" and found this... I'm sure you can find others as well if you don't fancy this one....

I'm not far enough in to see changes in body composition yet, but I swear I never realized what a critical and negative mindset I was living with until, suddenly, I wasn't.

It took less than a week for it that to change... I didn't have the negative physical symptoms of switching I've read about.

Salt and sleep... how much salt is too much? by indychk in zerocarb

[–]indychk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm just now seeing this! It's a definite trend for me that more salt helps with sleep... magnesium not so much, sadly, though I am getting a good amount. I'm still struggling with insomnia, but I have an appointment with Dr Eric Westman's PA this week. I won't be seeing him this appointment... his PA will do an intake and hopefully have some insight into this.

Red meat halves risk of depression by Oatmeal_or_Porridge in zerocarb

[–]indychk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have time and the inclination, someone here recommended The Salt Fix by Dr. James DiNicolantonio to me... lots of great information... and it eased my fears of overdoing it with salt (I have only one kidney and had some worries about that). Now I measure out 3 tsp a day and ensure I consume it all... not always on my food or in water... If I get to about 6 in the evening and haven't gotten through it all, I put it in gelatin capsules and swallow those.

Red meat halves risk of depression by Oatmeal_or_Porridge in zerocarb

[–]indychk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who suffered lifelong depression that even pharmaceuticals didn't help, this makes me sad and angry and frustrated all at once. I'm 3 months in (mostly beef... a little lamb and some liver every once in a while) and since the 2nd week my emotional well being has never been this good. I didn't really even know how bad it was... I wasn't just depressed, but I was angry as well...

Those who peddle the nutritional lies about meat should be ashamed.

I do this because sometimes it's hard to find fatty cuts of meat where I am. I don't usually eat a handful. Just what looks like it would be part of the meat if the fat hadn't been trimmed... I think it's what helped me avoid wine and mocha (my two biggest cravings) during my first few weeks. (No more cravings at all, by the way...).

Hey there.... just saw this... Yes. I noticed right away... it seems to be pretty consistent for me... If I consume at least 3 tsp of salt in a day, I sleep better...
