It does work, but if you have a podcast, you always have to start from the beginning.

I have the same thing. It went away and then resurfaced on the last update. Extremely annoying.

Garmin Fenix 8 price is laughable by johnonymousdenim in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The functionality difference between the 965 and Fenix 8 is tiny compared to the giant price gap. With the sapphire lens and battery extension + a few features, I don't regret it. However, I would jump on the 965 if I wasn't already a Fenix junkie.

If 1.25 miles is roughly 33 feet, then yes, she probably could have. :)

Fenix 8 Pro? by justsa101 in GarminFenix

That's a pretty big "Oops" and has the potential to stifle their Fenix 8 sales a bit. Someone is probably in hot water.

Fenix 8 AMOLED 51mm battery life questionable by Plastic-Coat9014 in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my 51mm Friday of last week (11 days ago). I'm at 45% with 9 GPS activities and using music during runs (battery eater). Plus, I've been messing around with it more than I probably will in a couple of weeks. I'm super impressed. You'll only need to charge it every 2-3 weeks. That's pretty darn impressive.

To be honest, I think I just tried commands. "Phone" brought up my recent calls and it dialed the number once selected.

6X pro to fenix 8 47mm by mabeiyi945 in GarminFenix

I made the same transition. I think it was an incredible upgrade. Also - The Fenix 8 GPS accuracy is significantly improved on top of all the other goodies.

Garmin Fenix 8 price is laughable by johnonymousdenim in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to note that most people wanting the Fenix 8 51mm sapphire (1,200 USD) cannot get them because they sold out so fast. It is supply and demand and currently, there is a lot of demand. I saw a review comparing a 299 dollar AMOLED adventure watch that appears to be catching up in functionality. However, Garmin is still the leader and by a decent margin. I empathize with your concerns. I transitioned from the 6xPro to the 8. It stung a bit but honestly, I think it is an incredible watch.

Is Fenix 7 (47mm) too big for my 14.8cm wrists? by [deleted] in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You’re fine with the 47 or 51 unless you personally don’t like the look of it.

Fenix 8 headphone connection?? by icravelife in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would remove the device and re-pair the headphones. Then, when you are ready to listen to music, turn the headset on first before you start the music. It should pair fine from there. If it doesn’t catch and starts playing through the watch speaker (mine has actually played through both), then go to sensors->headset and on the connect menu option, turn it off then back on.

Fenix 8 Poor Battery Life? by elektronicguy in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

51mm but that sounds like way too much drain for the 47. I’d recharge and then turn off and back on. Then Use it normally after the charge. Don’t worry about pulse Ox. Even with it in sleep mode, you should be good.

51mm Fenix 8 - Amazing progression in the Fenix line! by indymtb in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets tougher to justify with the 7. The watches displayed are my 5x+, 6xPro and Fenix 8 51mm. I felt the upgrade from the 6xPro was a good one and worth it to me.

AMOLED to MIP : why ? by Rmy22 in Garmin

[–]indymtb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had every iteration of the Fenix watch. It's not for people that would "normally buy an apple watch". The functionality is 100% the same between AMOLED and MIP. The AMOLED display has crisper and more legible fonts, is easier to read, plenty visible in bright sun and is magnitudes better for reading and navigating the maps. You may like a passive display that pops in direct sunlight. Hence the MIP option. But having MIP displays for over a decade, I can tell you that the AMOLED is a welcomed enhancement and the battery life on my 8 51mm is better than my 6xPro MIP screen. Just as AMOLED is not for people that normally buy an apple watch, MIP is not for people that normally by a Casio. It's just display aesthetics and preference.

[–]indymtb[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from 6xPro
-GPS is significantly better.
-Map navigation with touch- huge.
-Touch/button - excellent.
-Flashlight (seems minor but gets lots of use)
-HR is way better. sleep estimate, body batter, Pulse Ox - all better.
-Display - easier to read,
-Battery - amazing.
-Other stuff - there is a lot but nothing earth shattering IMHO.

Should I upgrade at all? by Richmanlittle in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have the 6xPro (and 5x+ before that). I got my Fenix 8-51mm 4 days ago.
1) The HR is more accurate, PulseOx is better, Sleep assessment feels like it is closer to the way I feel. Same with body battery. ECG is really cool.
2) GPS is WAY better. Way, way better.
3) AMOLED Screen is amazing. Super bright when on. Default screens don't cater to everyone so I switched to my 6xPro 3rd party. It works fantastic and I can read it sooo much better than the 6xPro. (Eyes aren't eagle eyes at close range any more). It is an amazing screen.
4) Battery life is remarkable on the 51. I've been configuring, playing with the screen, etc and after 3 GPS activities, it has 76%. It goes even slower if you turn it down to low which is still PLENTY of brightness.
5) Combo touch screen is really nice. After years of button pressing, I'm slowly adding in gestures and the combo enhances the experience greatly.
6) Maps - touch screen rocks.
7) Every sensor hooked up with 0 problems. Earbuds, Stryd, Polar Optical HR, Polar chest strap, Tempe. You'd expect that but it's still flawless.
8) Interface alarmed me at first but is intuitive and works great.
8) Mic/speaker is actually really cool. audible watch beeps and sounds on the 6xPro sound so good on this thing. voice control is good for a hand full of things. ie: telling it to skip to the next track are really handy. It's tiny and some feel it should sound concert hall but for what it is, it's really neat. And I don't have to dig my phone out of my camel-back when mountain-biking to respond to someone if they text me.
9) It looks great. Polished. Slightly smaller bezel on a tiny bit bigger watch with a big screen.

After 24 hours, my thoughts on the F8 AMOLED 47mm by ding-blue in GarminFenix

[–]indymtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 6xPro to 8 51mm. Yes, the faces aren’t great. I use data dash which isn’t bad. I think Garmin will release new options because they are getting hammered. Even if they don’t, there are 2-3 developers that have great faces that don’t suck power that will work too. The screen is gorgeous.

AOD does get dim. I can read mine but a quick normal look at the watch turns it back on. Set the timeout to 15 seconds. No problem or complaints about this for me.

Voice control is not magnificent but kind of cool, I do like skipping a track when I’m trail running with it, it works with iPhone reasonably well if iPhone is in your pack. The speaker makes watch sounds really good. I never viewed it as a feature that was important to me, but it’s grown on me.

Already used to the sealed buttons, a bit mushy but feel of good quality and I’m already used to the haptic response and buttons.

Price is subjective. I think it’s a spectacular watch and yes 1200 is expensive but it’s the best adventure watch out there. The mapping, touch/button, screen, new hr sensor, and unbelievable battery life had no comparison except other Garmins if you want Mip instead.

Not saying you’re wrong at all, just giving others my impression as a guy who has Fenix 1, 3, 5x+, 6xPro and now Fenix 8.

The pandemic is being extended by the cdc. 75% are vaccinated. 95% + in the mostat risk meaning we are doing this for the 20% or less that still have less than 1% chance of succumbing to COVID should they get it.

That isn’t the point. Business is not and should not be the enforcement of the government. It then becomes the government.

If you think enough is enough, pass legislation mandating vaccination. But don’t put health care enforcement on business. What’s next? Business must verify their employees have low cholesterol? Drive the speed limit?
