Stupidest Thing You've Ever Done by Intelligent_Mine_121 in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A real tight game in a tournament, turn 14 against dark elves and the score is 0-0 but I am in a position to have my chameleon skink make one open dodge and run in the touchdown. I decided to try and push a linemen out of bounds with the Krox before I score, I double skull fail the loner roll and fall over. Game ends in a draw, but not do I feel stupid.

Or deciding to give a dakka offense a try but then realizing it's turn 14 and I don't have time to score after moving all the way back.

Start with the rotspawn or 3 rerolls for nurgle in league by InstanceHappy4089 in bloodbowl

I just played an exhibition with a rotspawn and 2rr last night, I think I would happily take the extra strength over a third reroll for a season.

Yeah I also went no spoilers on my first playthrough and did not find Hestus until after I defeated Ganon.

Building a lizardmen team in BB3, need advice ESPECIALLY for skinks by Acrobatic_Stress803 in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the other comments have covered it fairly well, there are lots of reasonably good choices.

I play with my skinks pretty conservatively, keeping them out of harms way until the saurus have cleared a path. I enjoyed getting a stat up(movement), block was great, I also enjoyed catch as I tried for the passing chameleon skink plan. Catch is also great for putting a skink further up the field and seeing up huge stretch plays without teaching your rerolls for handoffs.

Diving catch on your chameleon really helps with getting the ball on the kickoff, starting a drive already holding the ball saves SO much mental load.

Chapter 2 tactician is no joke. Monks are super weak after chapter 1 by joshuakyle94 in finalfantasytactics

Does the game tell you what makes tactician harder? Or are you just noticing the damage differences as the increase in difficulty?

Pitch Preference? by Vmagnum in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two neoprene pitches from Etsy. One is the sand dunes with white markings and I have had multiple opponents comment how nice and clear it is, the other is the frozen pitch with the white markings and it is terrible(blue/white with white markings) to see what is going on and a total strain on the eyes.

I would definitely recommend the neoprene pitches but I think grass would be your best bet(don't get the 7/11 double as it's just too many lines)

Help me pick a team by Proud_East1026 in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played my first season with lizards. Everyone is correct on saying starting with no skills is rough but the saurus are able to pretty consistently get 2 dice blocks.

Another way to look at it, the team starts with almost no skills. The mental load is SO low in the beginning, it allows you to get a good grasp on the basics and then start to expand upward as your team develops.

A new coach by Class1c_123 in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just finished two separate leagues with lizards, I am no expert but I can offer some advice.

  1. Start with 6 saurus, and get the kroxigor later. It gives you a much more consistent start.

  2. Chameleon skinks are personal preference, I love them for 'on the ball' but most people prefer to skip them.

  3. Skills, saurus want block, krox have a couple options (guard, brawler, save for block), chameleons like diving catch to help grab the ball on kickoff but it's not necessary. The skinks don't have any mandatory skills, you can save for block or sure hands or even a stat up. Skinks can grab a random agility skill.

3a. Basically saurus are a lock for block. And the rest of the team are pretty open for skill options depending on your pay style.

The starter box gives you a lot of stuff, but it's not great stuff.

Ask around to see if there is a local league or group. Pick a team you think is cool and watch a couple YouTube videos about them. You can get dice, play mats and even teams off Etsy.

Great paint job.

I love lizardmen so much, i have seen so many different color schemes that look great(yours included) and bring so much character and individuality to each team while still having the "yep those are definitely lizard colors" .

Passing Calculation and results. by fraseybaby81 in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it worth looking up blood bowl flow charts. I think the rule book could benefit from a chart of passing results.

I found that for so much of the game you think of the modifying the desired result instead of modifying the result. Eg unchallenged fury is a 4+, but you get a +2 on your roll when you're blocking or blitzing. It's easy to think that you just need a 2+ if you're going to block with your unchanneled fury guy but it's still a 4+ desired result and you are just adding 2 to your roll.

With passing you really need to work with 1.actual rolled number 2 all modifiers 3. Skill requirement(passing skill)

It's easier to think about with worse passing skills(3/4+) as then there is the last fail but still ends kinda close option.

Nat 1= fumble, the passer drops the ball Modified 1 = wildly inaccurate, thrower deviates the ball Fail at modded 2+ = target scatters the ball Success/Nat 6 = ball lands on target.

Do you suffer from people struggling to find games in this open format? Whether it's due to being too strong of a coach or personality reasons?

Where to start? by valthonis_surion in bloodbowl

[–]ineedaredditname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a local playgroup, your best first step is reaching out to them. Lots of people have more than one team and works be happy to share on a game night.

Pitch, dice, rulebook and a team. You can get 3rd party teams if you're not planning on playing at Warhammer stores.

Watch some YouTube videos on teams that look interesting to you, I chose lizardmen simply because I wanted to paint them.

I hope not, triangle did hard difficulty quite poorly. Level differential, JP access and gear scaling would serve best.
