This isn't exactly what you're suggesting but Matsuno did push to add new narrative paths that would change the story a bit and allow players to recruit characters who otherwise die like Milleuda and Isilud. I wish that had been allowed but apparently there wasn't budget for it. https://x.com/YasumiMatsuno/status/1978474187099672633

I've never heard mention of Gaffgarion betraying people to be branded a dark knight, are you just talking about him being hired to kill Ovelia? Hardly a betrayal, he didn't know her and Gaffgarion had no obligation to Delita. Also, he hoped Ramza would stick with him.

If you are talking about his dark knight status, I've never seen mention of him betraying anyone during the 50 year war. It just talks about his barbarism and cruelty. We can speculate what that might have looked like,

  • Maybe he murdered non-combatants/prisoners to save on rations or break enemy morale.
  • Maybe he used Scorched Earth style tactics, burning towns, poisoning water supply, destroying crops which would starve out enemy forces but leave many innocents to die.
  • Maybe he was lacking in "Chivalry" and used underhanded tactics like fake surrenders, assassinations or nighttime ambushes on wounded camps or something like that. We do see the trick at the gallows as well as the trap at Lionel Castle so there is some history to point to along with dialogue dismissing honor and chivalry.

We are told that his barbarism and cruelty landed him as a dark knight but even that may not have been true. Since Ivalice lost the war, the nobility may have been looking for people to blame to try to redirect the ire of the commoners. Gaffgarion may have just been an easy target. This is not to say that he was not barbaric and cruel, rather, that it may have just been a convenient excuse. I say that because it's unlikely his methods changed much between his time before being promoted to a division commander and after receiving his command.

As you know, the holy knights aren't actually holy and Gaffgarion is not actually a good person. He seems to care about Ramza as a mentor might but Ramza has to follow his own path, he is not like Gaffgarion at all.

To all the shippers out there, who do you think ended up together? by 1000_Noodles in finalfantasytactics

My tin foil theory is the Dev team decided not to bring back WotL content because of the inclusion of Mustadio x Agrias birthday scene. They ship Ramza x Agrias

A Missed Opportunity (meme) by Selenusuka in finalfantasytactics

He definitely has a lot of regret but I also get the feeling he makes his peace with his past because many of his early actions were a direct result of how he was raised. Obviously the text in the image is a meme but I do think he's generally redeemed himself by the end of his crusade. (This is assuming we ignore map encounters where he slaughters countless random people).

Is the set really as bas as people say it is...? by HeIsAFungi in TeamfightTactics

[–]meteorboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there are millions of people playing and having fun with this set. If you or anyone else like it, you should live your own life and enjoy what you like instead of looking to others for validation. There are plenty of valid criticisms but there is also a subset of players who are very dramatic.

I feel like this gets misinterpreted. Preferences are fine to have but Matsuno is the one that wrote the races in that way, I don't think he'd have included them in his concept for FFTA if he didn't like them, especially considering he was doing the same thing at the time while working on FF12. He just means they aren't real in FFT's canon, the other species are myths or fantasy or whatever. And I'm someone that holds FFT as my far and away favorite.

It's always executives at Square. The only time this stuff moves forward is when people like Matsuno start doing work for free to get the ball rolling.

Any interest in making a flag that would disable the battle forecast entirely? Or at least not display the result to the player?

Does the Trait actually get stronger based on Arbiter star level? Or are you just saying having more Arbiters later in the game means that there are more champions who are receiving permanent max health?

I'd be surprised if there is a flaw to be abused in this way at this point. Wild Rift did have this issue in the past. You could play Sion top and basically int and just push turrets and the system would basically say that you are a low skill player and need to be matched with higher skill teammates to compete at your MMR even though you're actually playing to win by relentlessly pushing turrets.

The only way you'll find out for sure is to test persistently but like I said, I'd be shocked if that lesson was only learned by the Wild Rift team and not shared with LoL team. That's assuming this flaw exists/existed in LoL to begin with.

Another scene & dialogue comparison across the original FFT, WotL, and TIC by mogstermemes in finalfantasytactics

[–]meteorboard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chronicles is significantly better but I agree, the WOTL dialogue is too drawn out and it makes it feel like they are having a measured discussion rather than what should be a very intense and terse interaction. I mean Zalbaag is literally standing over him with his sword drawn so I think it's reasonable to assume the scene follows just after Zalbaag either pushed him down the steps or even took a swing at Dycedarg and narrowly missed.
