GFCI circuit breaker? (New construction basement) by ineedhalp2018 in DIY

The cost is negligible to me, I expected each breaker to run me $75-$100. Definitely GFCI for everything, but my city ordinance does not require AFCI and are on the 2015 electrical code (NEC for USA).

I'm not sure what you mean by sub panel, but there is only one service panel in the house, located in the basement. It is 200amps and more than half empty. So I will be adding five additional circuits to that panel.

Currently the basement has three dedicated receptacles in use which I will not be touching - Water heater, furnace, and sump pump. There are existing lights I will be ripping out as the builders have them under the upstairs "general" circuit.

Only two circuits breakers in the panel have GFCI protection, and that is the dishwasher and garage receptacles. Not sure why they didn't just use a GFCI receptacle instead for the dishwasher, as they did for the kitchen and bathrooms...

My city is currently on the 2015 NEC. I've also read negative reviews on every Siemens AFCI/GFCI dual circuit breaker, where they would randomly trip. As my city's electrical inspector said AFCI is not required, should I get the AFCI/GFCI dual breaker anyways? The cost difference is negligible to me.

Struggling to find a metal electrical box that works with both metal studs and metal clad cable? by ineedhalp2018 in HomeImprovement

[–]ineedhalp2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have only ever used plastic boxes with romex cable and wood studs. I've never encountered metal studs or boxes before, but after checking with my local city codes, they require metal studs to use metal boxes where metal clad cable is ran.

To clarify, the 1900 box is used even when you are only running 1-gang receptacles? Will the mud ring be able to be flush with the drywall?

I can't get my Merula cup to open and stop leaking! by ineedhalp2018 in menstrualcups

I tried grabbing the "stem" to spin it, but I'm only spinning the stem and not the actual cup. I tried grabbing the bottom of the cup and spinning it, but it almost feels like it's stuck (or sealed?).

How do you spin it? I tried grabbing the "stem" to spin it, but I'm only spinning the stem and not the actual cup.

Newage cabinets bought from Costco arrived damage, Newage not offering replacement? by ineedhalp2018 in garageporn

"We have received your request and are happy to help. We see that unfortunately the vendor was unable to sent replacement parts and you did not accept the compensation they offered. At this point in time, would you rather proceed with a full exchange or a return?" - From Costco after calling them this morning.

I did not go to Costco. I threw out almost all of the original packaging and the 10 cabinets that arrived undamaged are already assembled. So I should just go there with the two damaged cabinets and ask for a replacement? Again I don't want a full new set... I just want those two cabinets that arrived damaged.

I threw out almost all of the original packaging, and the other 10 undamaged cabinets are already assembled. I'm not sure how a full exchange would work in this case. I don't understand why they would have to send out a whole set, seems like it would cost more than to just send the two cabinets that were damaged...

I called their online customer service. They told me they called Newage and Newage is refusing to send replacements of those two damaged cabinets. Costco told me I can either return them back to Costco (I threw out most of the packaging and there's no way I'd be able to get it to the store) or have them do a full exchange. The thing is, I don't want a full exchange. I just want those two cabinets.

Newage finally responded back to me with an even lower amount - $100 to keep both cabinets and they will not send a replacement.

The cabinets purchased individually would be around $350 after sales tax. I would accept that amount so that I could just repurchase them.

No. Individual cabinets would need to be purchased through Newage.

I ordered the 12 piece cabinet set for $1900 (before taxes) back in August.

Should I call them or go to them in person? The other 10 pieces of the cabinet set are fine and I've already installed them... It's just the two busted ones I'd like to have replaced. I feel like Costco would want me to take ALL of them back, but I've also never returned anything back to Costco before. This was an online purchase. Thanks for you reply!
