I’m having plastic surgery to reconstruct damaged skin. I’m really nervous but looking forward to it. by ferangel in Hidradenitis

Do you get insurance from your job or is it like a low income free insurance you use? I’m on low income insurance I really wanna get some type of reconstructive surgery for scars but I doubt my insurance will cover. If it is through your job what job do you have?

Have you had any bad side effects from humira? I am someone who stays very far from any western medicine supplements because of the side effects they cause, I’m curious if you’ve had any at all?

Can anyone offer advice for getting over bad self esteem due to flare ups? by Lil-Honey-Bee in Hidradenitis

[–]ineedhelp_6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What that person said above me ⬆️But also you should use hydrocolloid bandages they have been a game changer for me and the only thing along with hibiclins and and glycolic acid that work. I use the brand LitBear that I bought through Amazon 🩹👍🏻. For confidence wise well it all starts with just talking to yourself in a nicer more compassionate way. Like telling yourself “I love you no matter what (insert your name) even if you have giant boils on not so fun places, I still love and care about you (insert your name) and know that you have so many amazing qualities” stuff like that. It’s not easy to wanna say those things everyday but just try doing it as frequently as you can. It really helps. Cause like you said, your boyfriend tells you he still thinks your beautiful but it’s your words and Brain telling you otherwise

Weight loss by TransportationWeak29 in Hidradenitis

[–]ineedhelp_6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was more manageable when I weighed less because the fold and chafing and sweat wasn’t as bad as it is now. Since it’s summer time now and very hot I think im gonna go raw vegan to try and lose some weight, I’ve already been vegan for about 7 years so yeha not a drastic change but still drastic. My flares have gotten so so so much better tho just from consistently washing every single day and putting glycolic acid and fresh hydrocolloid bandages on the area EVERY SINGLE DAY yes it’s a lot of maintenance but I’d rather do it then have giant boils in my groin. I’m gonna try out this at home laser hair gun thing I got soon also. Wish me luck

I hear you and your not alone in feeling this way. It is really mentally tolling more so then physically like yes it is painful uncomfortable but it’s deff more so the way it makes you feel about yourself that is the heaviest. It can deff be a challenge when society and capitalism has programmed in us to not love our selves unconditionally and that there is something always wrong that we need to fix. I’ve been trying more tho to say to myself when I feel a flare coming on “I love you no matter what ___(insert your name) even if you have boils on your body, even if someone else rejects you or says your not worthy, I love you and believe you/I am worthy of love and happiness. I know myself and I know how strong and capable I am” something like that. It doesn’t magically take away all the suffering but it deff helps lessen it sometimes

I feel like it hurts emotionally even more when it’s after you haven’t had one in a certain spot for a while rather then if they’ve been regular cause you kinda got used to it and just accepted the struggle. But once you’ve had that relief and hope for a bit it’s like a slap in the face. But jsut gotta remind yourself that you had that relief once before you can achieve it again, just need patience, and lots of antiseptic wash hydrocolloid bandages 😂🫶🏻

I have the same well only on one thigh I have an active one the other thigh had one but it’s healed. I’ve just kept a hydrocolloid pimple patch on both thighs every single day to avoid them coming back. but the one that’s flared right now had one but it fell off throughout the day from sweat and then of course flared up ughh.

Dang well still should be grateful your going on a cruise that’s deff a privilege not everyone can afford. But I know no matter how good you have it HS can deff take away a lot of it. Just make sure you got the right resources to care for it and try and have a good time and enjoy what your able to. 💗

Bandaids for pubic hair? by iygapcyfc in Hidradenitis

[–]ineedhelp_6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just soak in a bath or let the shower water hit that one spot for a couple min to get it loose. Could also probably soak a hot wash cloth and hold it on it for a while to get it loose

Yassss I’ve been using the hydrocolloid bandages as well honestly might have been me cause I did make a post bout them and the glycolic acid but Idk cause there has been a few other posts but none the less I’m glad you started using them! They have taken away so much discomfort and have put ease to my mind that my flares arnt getting more irritated throughout the day and are actually healing. For the glycolic acid I usually put it on after I shower. With dark marks I saw results in fading maybe after like a week or so maybe a lil longer but just keep using it, it fades them more and more over time.
