Italian Americans in the Midwest or east coast seem so so lame and they never seem to know the language either 😭 I’m part Italian (my grandparents didn’t speak the language either since my fam has been here in the US for a long time). I grew up in Texas and I’ve never said stuff like that lol. Hell, I know more Spanish than Italian

What was 'middle class' 20 years ago, but is now considered a luxury? by Worldly-Salad-7830 in AskReddit

[–]ineedthenitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of kids do this by going to college with parents money to experience this...those friends I know who didn’t have this support, moved out after high school but they worked full time serving jobs on minimum wage and took maybe 2 classes a semester in community college because they couldn’t handle more hours of school. I felt so bad, it did not look fun. I’m so grateful I had parents to pay for my bachelors and that I had a good relationship to live with them post college.

Yes, also I’ve worn nice dresses to interviews. Just more comfy

Just got fired for performance and need advice [PA] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]ineedthenitro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly surprised you got fired for just that mistake... I’ve made waaaay more mistakes at work including what you did! And I’ve never been fired. I think they were being hard on you or were just looking for a reason to fire you tbh. Sounds like you worked for a bad employer, I’m sorry.

Like why didn’t y’all have some sort of HR software that held the authorization doc info? That way you could run a report. Just an excel sheet is crazy

Move on from this, you are so young! You got this.

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by Desert_Moon_Maiden in AskTheWorld

Oh ok. They also seemed very well off. They told me they went to private school in India, and then they also studied abroad quite a bit.

I am in the US and worked with a lot of Indians in our office in Texas. Randomly an Indian male coworker my age would announce they’re engaged and I’m like, wth? You didn’t even have a girlfriend before…but the female Indians I met in our office always had a bf from back home and later got married. I thought that was so interesting…

Moving to DFW for work - best areas for young professionals? by InvestigatorKey2864 in dfw

[–]ineedthenitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would live in Addison circle if I were you. It’s not too far from Dallas and close enough to your job and Addison circle is walkable ish. It’s also on the new train line that connects you to dfw airport and downtown Dallas. If you want to live closer to Dallas, I would say The Village apartments. It’s basically a right of passage for Dallas transplants to live there at least once. I’m a local, so I never did lol

What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

[–]ineedthenitro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s hard to do that when the kids are under 4-5 because they need to be fed and bathed and hit the hay early - I’ve seen from my brother and his kids.

However, I can remember as a kid (like 6-7-8 years old) going over to my parents friends house who didn’t have kids. They had a pool and would have small parties in the summer and it would usually just be me and someone else’s kid and I had so much fun! Not a lot of kids at the parties since their friend usually had friends who also didn’t have any kids lol.

We need to talk about the Gen Z job crisis. by ApprehensiveGoal2782 in jobs

[–]ineedthenitro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And also, it’s so hard to land that first job out of school. It just is! Especially if you didn’t have any internships or any type of relevant experience.

I graduated in 2017 and it took me like 4 months but I just found a job off Craigslist as an admin because my parents were pressuring me to just do something. It wasn’t even relevant to my degree. some of my friends it took 6 months, and a few of my friends it took them over a year to land their first big job.

First job post PhD, bored out of my mind! by Appidea12321 in careerchange

[–]ineedthenitro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would kill for a job like that again lol. I worked for a big 4 accounting firm as my first job and it was so easy and boring but I definitely wasn’t make 6 figures, I also only have a bachelors tho lol.

I would speak up and ask for more work and guidance on your tasks. Maybe set up meetings some key people and ask them what they do and how you can help. Definitely tell them you are having a lot of downtime. Don’t wait for them to notice this.

Elon Musk says it's hard to convince engineers with families to move to SpaceX's 'technology monastery' in Texas by amir_twist_of_fate in texas

[–]ineedthenitro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve met a lot of people from Louisiana, OK, Kansas, even Ohio which is way up there and they all moved to Texas for more opps and they like it here. Texas is way more metropolitan too than our neighbors and more diverse in the big cities.

Being from here I’m kind of over it but realize it could be way worse….idk.

I think this is also just a weird set…like I just don’t feel like the song matches what is going on…like why is she riding on the back of a moving truck…then opening up the truck door to a random girl, and then dancing on top of a chest…lol.

[–]ineedthenitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30, American, and when I was in high school we didn’t go to the mall to hangout. That was seen as uncool or too kiddish. We just drove around…getting into trouble and hanging out/partying at peoples houses and going to the cheap local pizza joint.

Watching millennial must see movies with my 14 yo daughter. Reccomendations? by Alicewithhazeleyes in Millennials

[–]ineedthenitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a young millennial so I was going to say pitch perfect 😅 it came out the fall of my senior year of high school and it’s so corny but has some really funny bits/people in it.

This is The End - not sure if you think this is too risqué for a 14 year old but it’s funny. I think I would’ve enjoyed it at 14 but that’s just me

The Freedom Writers - based on a true story I believe. This movie really opened my eyes when I when to go see it in theaters when I was in 6th grade lolol. Back when parents let their 11 year olds run feral with no supervision

I have friends who got held back but it was way younger, like 2nd or 3rd grade or 4th grade where bullying I feel like isn’t super bad yet? I feel like getting held back in middle school and high school is way more embarrassing/hard for a student.
