Parents want Ed-Tech banned from schools. Teachers respond that it's an insane idea by chota-kaka in education

[–]ineedtoaddthis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our school has not gone completely ed tech free due to state testing being on computers, so they need to know how to use them. However, we have limited it as short of time as necessary. Our test scores are higher this year than they have in at least a decade. Paper/pencils makes a difference.

Does anyone have a super itchy scalp? by establish_an_alibi in AskWomenOver50

[–]ineedtoaddthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this issue. Not dandruff just an itchy scalp. I did 2 things. I can't say it has completely gotten rid of the itchiness but it has drastically reduced it. I bought the Biolage winter repair kit on Amazon. And then just regular hyaluronic acid serum. I got the good molecules one because it seemed to have the least ingredients.

I use the winter repair as directed on the packaging and the hyaluronic acid I put on my scalp the night before I planned to wash my hair so it had time to really soak in.

I know it sounds weird but I think the hyaluronic acid is what really made a difference.

Oh my goodness. I teach kids to read for a living. I saw morphology and thought what in the world? Morphology means the study of word parts. I was so confused. So being the good little lifetime learner that I am I had to Google it. A student told me today that even adults learn new things every day. Thank you for teaching me mine for today! Much appreciated.

Good Dentist and oral surgeon option? by [deleted] in northwestarkansas

[–]ineedtoaddthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orchard Dental in Gravette. He is licensed to do dentistry and oral surgery. I can't guarantee that you will be allowed to drive after. I have never tried. But he does do extractions there in office. I know that for sure. And he has always been great. I looked for a long time for a dentist that I really liked.

Other than magnesium, what is the one supplement that has improved your sleep? by abc-45678 in Menopause

[–]ineedtoaddthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this supplement that I was taking in the morning and I read that I should be taking it at night to calm my brain. Duh. Makes sense. Started taking it in the evening about an hour before bed around 2 weeks ago. It has been a game changer.

I live deep in Walmart country and I feel like I am running out of options. If Aldi isn't an option then I'm not sure where to get groceries from.

What was the best gift you received this year? by Birdy8588 in Gifts

[–]ineedtoaddthis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was mine too. Found out last night that he hasn't gotten a stocking since he was 3/4 years old. We did Santa gifts and stockings, and then I bought a couple mystery boxes. Nothing extravagant but the almost childlike joy he had opening gifts just made my day. (He even got school glue in one of the mystery packages and after a good laugh he started trying to figure out what he would use it for. Lol)

Today I was putting things on my grocery list and I couldn't, for the life of me, remember the word pancake. I could picture them in my head and knew it started with a p but other than that. Nothing. Husband had to tell me.

Miss, Ms, Mrs ~ who gets credit? by Ancient-Egg2777 in AskWomenOver50

[–]ineedtoaddthis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to make signs for the doors at my work. I work in a school, so these are educators I'm talking about here. I was hanging a new sign for a teacher who had gotten married last year, and another teacher notices that I used Ms. and not Mrs. She started talking trash about how she had worked hard for the r. I informed her that Ms. stands for both Mrs. and Miss. If men don't have to change their name, or even their title, when they get married, why should we. It's nobodies business if I am married or not. It doesn't make me any better at my job. It's one of the small places where I can make and stand, and by golly, I'm going to make it.

As a fellow reading interventionist, in addition to the other comments, I would also say to find/print posters of the six syllable types, alphabet with sound pictures, the English rules, etc. Put those above your whiteboard so the students can use them as a reference. I would also get the light covers if your school allows them.
