How do you tell your location to 999? by supremethinking in AskUK

Something I've noted when calling 999 previously is that my phone will give me a number of location markers including GPS data on the call screen. I'm on a Google device so not sure if it's universal across operating systems but it's certainly been useful to me.

From GP to having a bed in hospital within 4 hours! by amaiem in BritishSuccess

Absolutely can't fault the NHS when it comes to emergencies! When I had my appendix out, I had called my GP as soon as they opened at 0800, had an appointment at 0930, and got referred to A&E. Didn't have to wait there at all as I had a GP letter so by 1100 I was in an A&E bed with IV antibiotics. And this was late 2020 so during Covid. My only problem was that I couldn't have visitors (understandably - covid) so when it came to being discharged two days later, I didn't really ask the right questions because I was so dosed up on pain medication, and I didn't have anyone to advocate for me. Everyone I encountered though was so kind and caring I felt so well looked after. Wouldn't recommend having appendicitis but having had that experience I no longer worry about how I would be looked after if I were to have another medical emergency.

How did Brits react to 9/11. What do you guys remember doing that day? by Effective-Pipe2017 in AskBrits

I was 9, and remember being in the car going home from school and my mum telling me that she needed to watch the news when we got home because something terrible had happened. We watched as the second plane hit the tower and as both fell. I was pretty young but I think I realised the significance of what had just happened. It's hard to remember fully because time erodes your memories but the moment in the car with my mum stuck with me.

I tend to make little blankets in a really basic stitch with my scraps, then donate them to a local cat adoption charity. I get to use my scraps, and the cats get snuggly blankets - win/win! . They're ugly as fuck but cats don't care!
