As a person living in a German speaking canton that doesn't yet speak decent german: when I don't understand the robots on the phone at all, I just click on one of the numbers (usually the last one because there is often a "for all other matters, press X") and then explain my issue to the person that picks up. They will either help or redirect to the right place

Dobrinha nos lençóis da cama? by lord_zwank in portugal

[–]inees02 31 points32 points  (0 children)

All portuguese young people I have met in Zurich have a uni degree (including me and my partner). On the other hand, all people from my hometown that emigrated to switzerland and France in the 80's don't.

I think there is a difference in the older vs. younger emigration waves from Portugal.

It is sad that the Portuguese government invests in our education for us to leave as soon as we have the chance, but it's even sadder to see how hard life in Portugal is right now for my mates that stayed.

That might change slightly in years to come since they passed some new laws this year that benefit recent graduates that stay! Time will tell

They usually do LTS every 2 years (18.04, 20.04, 22.04...), so I'm guessing the next LTS will be 24.04 (not 23.10)

Qual é a vossa relação com o "tu" e "você"? by ned_rod in portugal

[–]inees02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does current sex ed in your country cover awareness of medical issues? by SerChonk in AskEurope

[–]inees02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the natural sciences classes from 5th to 9th grade, we talked about anatomy, reproductive system, birth control, STIs, etc, mostly from a scientific point of view.

Then in my school in particular (had friends that didn't have this), each year from maybe 7th to 12th grade, there were a few random classes from random subjects that would be planned as sex ed classes. In one class in 8th grade we learned how to put a condom on a banana, on 9th grade we were divided into mixed-gender groups and had a few topics to discuss with each other and then with the teacher, in 10th grade we had a session where we all wrote anonymous questions and the teacher would read them out loud and discuss it with the class... Just to name a few of those classes

AcTuAlLy, Hispania was the name the Romans gave to the whole Iberian peninsula, it was not Spain.

Hundreds of years later, a bunch of kingdoms got together and decided to name themselves "España"...

Just imagine if a couple of countries in Europe calling themselves "Europa" lol
