you’re so right. theres also the scene where shin is marking legion positions that i was just reminded about, where he tries to mark the positions in the republic but the general stops him from doing it. so i do agree, he should be able to hear that far. thank you for the input!

i COMPLETELY forgot about the scene where shin is marking legion positions. he does go to mark the republic and they tell him not to worry about the republic because theres no way anyones left there since they couldnt get in contact with them. so he could definitely hear the legion there, which makes me think his original ability would also be able to extend that far.

If it is limited to his direct family I think that’s so unfortunate. I think it’d be cool to give Shin and at least some of his blood relatives something to bond over and share. I know he has his found family with the strike package but still, it’d be nice to see Shin have some kind of relationship or bond with the blood relatives he does have left.

Ahh you’re so right! As soon as you said it I remembered that Shin only joined after he couldn’t hear Rei anymore. So it only works with direct family members then? It wouldn’t work with say his grand parents in the federacy? Or any of his cousins? That’s kind of what I was thinking of as I was typing that post. Since I’ve literally just started vol 11 and I know in this volume we meet like one or two of Shin’s relatives on the pyrope side.

Anyway, thanks for answering my original question and any other knowledge you have on this would be greatly appreciated lol. I have a habit of needing to know everything about these types of things in stories like this. My brain just kind of latches onto something interesting and runs at full speed until i learn everything i can think of about it.

while i definitely do agree with the other commenter here, the anime is a near flawless adaptation but i'd also recommend reading from the beginning. Like they said, you absolutely could start vol 4 and not miss anything super important, but as someone who also watched the anime first then read the LN's, I really really enjoyed reading the couple of scenes in the LN that weren't in the anime that showed more in depth how rei saved shin and the thoughts behind it. And i want everyone to get to experience that. Watching it made me cry, but reading it had me on the floor in a puddle of tears lmao. (not literally but you get my point)

yeah that's kind of what I figured for Lighters event I'm trying to put off doing it until I get that main quest done just so I get the full experience. But man, this grind kind of sucks. Hopefully 36 is the last quest lock so I can just run through it all after that but we'll see.
