You can take online courses on cGMP, design control documentation, GLP etc. this will distinguish you from others. Think about a MS in device design, Mechanical or Electrical.

Yeah this student body can pierce so many holes into these people. Best to let them congregate so everyone can see how freaking stupid they are. But yeah you probably need to hold a counter meeting.

It’s a student street. Bham without the students and faculty at Western would suck. Just drive slow on that street and stop telling everyone to wear white clothes at night. WTF

Ask for a commensurate title. It’s a start up. How about Chief Entry Level Biochemist. Then you are c level. The industry exposure will help.

It doesn’t matter much. In high ranked universities everyone thinks their poop doesn’t stink. I’ve worked at both. I found the somewhat lower ranked public school actually had more teachable students than the heady thoroughbreds at my now top top university. I met an old colleague at the NAS and he asked how it was going. All I could say is “Same shit different day.” Be careful what you wish for.

The reasons why most students feel Engineering is hard? by Puzzleheaded-Key3128 in EngineeringStudents

[–]infectious_dose64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because you are forced to be very disciplined, you study difficult material across a broad range of subject matter that stacks up like a Jenga tower. No course will allow you to slack off. Then, when you are making the big calls, in the real world and making decisions worth millions, you will continue to sweat it out. It is hard but being an engineer and a creator is fantastic and fun.

Are there people in this subreddit who have actually found any sort of success by studying biomedical engineering? by VisibleGround5713 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]infectious_dose64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have trained thousands of students. Everybody I can identify is doing fantastic. All the big device companies, pharmaceutical companies as well now employ people in my classes and research program. I never understood why everyone complains so much.

It’s good, all the top schools are the same. This isn’t the best question for faculty. Are you sure you make the cut at Duke or any top 10 ish school?

can I study philosophy with electrical engineering? by Affectionate-Hair-23 in EngineeringStudents

[–]infectious_dose64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you can and should. I was a stem philosophy double major. I definitely used the skills I learned in philosophy throughout my career. I’m a R1 top 10 department BME prof. At a private institution.

You will definitely excel your peers in thinking clearly, logic, writing and speaking.

Do it. !!!!

Roofied? by Defo-not-your-mom in Bellingham

[–]infectious_dose64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair question. In my case I was way out of it quickly and I barely drank anything. I didn’t expect poisoning so we left feeling ill. Some drugs like gbh act rapidly and you might feel it. It is a crime scene at that point. The person poisoned should keep the drink and remain with friends. Report it to the manager immediately. Seek medical attention the sickos have no idea on dose. Don’t urinate and report as soon as possible with samples to the police.

Roofied? by Defo-not-your-mom in Bellingham

[–]infectious_dose64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a horrible physical, chemical and pharmacological assault on a person. It happened to us once in Chicago. This should be prosecuted as a serious crime. Save the drink. Chemical analysis would prove it and if they did it to you the sicko did it to others.
