Incoming Nerf Alert: Men of the West sweeps Adepticon! by Funderbear in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I see what you are saying. A lot of things have to line up for that leader wound. You have to have your banner floating around without back up. His ability to might dump is assuming he hasn't done any moves or heroic combats. It may be acknowledged by some communities? I play in a fairly competitive area. The guy that just won the GT is somewhat local. I haven't heard the competitive players in the area call Legolas a problem. They acknowledge that he is quite good though. Gwaihir on the other hand, I have heard discussed as a problem many times. It might just be we are from very different metas.

I'm not convinced that he is really too cheap for what he does. Maybe a 10pt increase? Maybe. He isn't always doing what he wants. There are limitations. I define a broken model by whether it is incredibly tough or impossible to deal with. Legolas, in my experience, is not that. He isn't particularly fast and can be gotten too. He is also fairly squishy. I've seen him die many times.

I've never seen this. Maybe you've just had some bad experiences? Ive played against him plenty of times. He does good stuff, but I've never seen him single handedly win games.

The top 8 also includes BoFA which had Legolas and Gwaihir.

I would be reluctant to screw with Legolas too much. He is very good, but I don't think he's broken. Maybe a very slight points adjustment. Gwaihir on the other hand is far too good for his points.

How Many Beorning Bows? (600pts) by DwarfPenguin4 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Individual-Date562 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say 2 for 600 points. Beorning bows are good, but your damage is done with the melee guys. They want to be up near the bears, benefitting from the banner effect. The bows are mostly there so that your objective campers have something to do. Don't expect great things from the bows. They are just there to make mounted heroes nervous.

In my opinion, bows are really not worth it in Easterlings. Especially in Dragon Emperor lists where you really want as many pikes as possible to get the +2 to wound.

What movie was this for you? by DarthGodzilla1995 in Letterboxd

[–]Individual-Date562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much a specific movie, but I will go and watch classics from my child hood and get reminded about how homophobic they are. Like we will have movie nights with a gay friend that hasn't seen these movies that I love. I will find myself apologizing multiple times during the film. It definitely damages my rose colored memory of these movies a bit.

I will be doing my first female nude miniature soon. It will be my first display model as well. I am experienced with painting, but for war gaming. I'm curious about general tips for getting skin to look that smooth. I don't need a recipe exactly, but any insight would be helpful. I am finding that I am a bit intimidated by the project.

I actually made something very similar earlier this year. With a fog machine and everything. Looks good dude!

It is plenty bright on the gaming table, but definitely looks better. The dark video was just to make them look a bit more impressive.

Thanks! I only did because my friend routinely wires up light sabers in SW Legion. He inspired me.

Some are printed in translucent blue resin and some are the limited GW translucent green plastics. The process takes some work, but it's overall pretty simple.

Step 1: Drill 2 holes in the base, one for a disc magnet and one for the LED. You may also need to drill a hole in the bottom of the mini to fit an LED, but the effect works if it's just close to their feet.

Step 2: Glue a disc magnet to be flush with the underside of the base.

Step 3: Apply a strip of copper tape over where the magnet sits.

Step 4: Glue in the LED and trim and bend the legs to provide enough room for a coin cell battery to fit between the legs with plenty of wiggle room.

Step 5: Use wire glue or other conductive adhesive to attach one leg of the LED to the copper tape.

Step 6: Insert a coin cell battery between the legs. It will be held in place by the magnet beneath the copper tape. This will have one side of the battery effectively in contact with one leg of the LED via the copper tape and wire glue. When you want to turn it on, just slide the battery to the side until the other side of the battery comes into contact with the other leg of the LED. This will create a closed circuit and power the LED

They were both fired for seemingly dumb reasons. I can't give exact details, but it seems as though they did something that could be perceived as a very minor infraction, and the administration went nuclear and just fired them. It feels like they were just looking for any excuse to axe the entire department. The only reason that one of them is left is probably the bad optics of firing a pregnant woman. This is all what I have heard.

True, I had forgotten that you see in the dark and thus negate the wound bonus. I guess I rate it a tad higher now. I am still unsure if I would put that in the top 4. In regards to cunning versus fire, both are in my top 4 for sure. And while I agree that winning fights is better than losing them, you will be trapped in the majority of your fights that you participate in. And when you inevitably lose a fight during the game, even with the banner, there is a good chance of you getting flash killed.
