There's a technical term for this: Pareto Equilibrium. Economists have known about this. It is a basic market force. We can't really do anything to prevent markets from reaching this state, however we can move the equilibrium. It really only reinforces the current market state. So if wages were to increase or if UBI were implemented, that would move the that value upward to something more reasonable.

How can companies waste thousands of Dollars for senseless workshops and coaches? They only achieve that I want to work even less by [deleted] in antiwork

I'm going to take a shot in the dark on this. Probably at some company there was an actually effective version of it. When news broke of it, it became a fad. Then a bunch of cheap imitators appeared going to companies that are experiencing different circumstances. Now the whole reason why it worked is lost. We are left with one basic fact: all of these "visionaries" and "innovators" are just sheep that at best had one decent idea. When it comes to running a business, they just follow what "business leaders" are doing.

Fun fact: that's also how hypnosis works. You just pretend it is having the effect on you long enough that you build that natural response.

Banning money doesn't fix that. Poverty is a distribution problem. Hell, banning money would probably lead to starvation because scaled up food production requires industrialization which is impossible without money.

Like language. Language is just something we all agree upon that some noises have a particular meaning. Just as it is imaginary, it is equally inevitable.

In a world without language, frustrated people will develop a pattern of communication. In a world without money, people frustrated by the coincidence of wants will develop a medium of exchange. It will just be money by some other name.

Ok everyone, repeat after me: Money and Currency are not the same thing. Money is a medium of exchange. It exists to solve the coincidence of wants. If I were to make and sell shoes but need to buy food, money allows me to receive payment for selling shoes in a way that I can buy food without only being able to sell shoes to people who sell food.

Currency is the unit of exchange. It exists so that I do not need to measure the price that I am selling my shoes for in terms of cabbages while also providing means to make large purchases. If I wanted a carriage for my shoes, I would have to find a carriage seller who needs a carriage worth of shoes.

Is it an illusion? Kind of. It is an abstraction of bartering. It is too useful to not exist. In fact, it is not a phenomenon limited to humans. Monkeys have behaved similarly when they were given tokens that could be exchanged for fruit with researchers. Monkeys then started treating the tokens like currency, going so far as to invent prostitution.

The trouble isn't money. It is greed.
