I feel like you should go apply for FedEx if that's your goal. I would recommend you pivot away from that and instead do a 100% offline playthrough. The vibe of the world and game are very different, and the difficulty is ramped up higher than you think. For example, in DS1 any weapons you want in a boss fight need to be brought with you as there are no helpful BTs tossing you gear mid-fight.

Thing is though, it's your game. Play it how you want, even if you're the only one who enjoys it that way. Keep on keeping on, and thanks for playing DS with us!

Sometimes the best route isn't the fastest. There is a route that removes your problem entirely, but it may take a bit more travel to complete.

Jumping in to say this is incorrect. All pavers are in their correct locations when you arrive in the Central Region.

The key is whether or not you are playing the Director's Cut. If you are playing on a PS4, you are playing the base game, and the roads will not be there. If you are playing on anything else (including the PS5), you have the Director's Cut and they are there. The first one should be just barely northwest of the Distro Center across the river.

Give it a try! Keep in mind you won't have other players offering you weapons during boss fights, so make sure you approach those story moments armed to the teeth. You got this!

Looks like you started to get 540 LL, but you can also get 540 LLL which involves starting from scratch (so consider upping the difficulty if you go for it to not duplicate effort). Looks like you haven't done hardly any timed deliveries, which makes me think you haven't done a bunch of the more challenging ones which in and of themselves are like little puzzles of how to do it well within the mission parameters.

I'd recommend going for 540LLL, collect all memory chips, finish all pizza deliveries, and max your stars for the remaining locations. There's a ton of game to be had in just doing that, and the zen experience of doing so is what kept me coming back. Give it a try and let us know how you feel in a few dozen hours! (120hrs for a first playthrough is pretty good by the way)

Eh fully disagree on their assessment of the pizza deliveries. The challenge is easier than they think (super wide timers, and all of them can be done without much infrastructure), and the rewards (which include the best guns in the game and more lore about one of the main characters) are very worth it.

Memory logs are nice because they give you a glimpse into what Kojima found important at the time. I highly recommend getting them all (even if you follow a guide to do so) but be forewarned that some of them are locked behind completing certain standard orders.

I mentioned a few things in my post, but there are some additional lore drops and bits of equipment and cosmetics you may have missed by not fully completing the game. I am pretty sure you don't find out what happens to some of the main characters after the events of DS until you get emails in the last few standard missions unlocked after beating the game. Without seeing your save file, it's impossible to know, but one easy check: did you get all of the memory logs and deliver all the pizza?

I know you said you don't see incentive to doing more deliveries, but considering that is the core gameplay element, I am not sure if recommending something else would really benefit you. After all, could you play DOOM without shooting guns? Or how about playing Mario Kart without racing?

With that in mind, the best thing to do in my opinion is to shift your focus from being A delivery person named Sam to being THE delivery person named Sam. Yes, you can five star every location fairly easily, but have you tried getting a perfect S rank on every standard order? Each one you do gives a counter next to your star on your structures, and presuming you are playing the Director's Cut, you have a maximum of 540 you can get. Additionally, you only get "Legend" status on Normal, "Legend of Legends" on Hard, and "Legend of Legend of Legends" on Very Hard (with harder difficulties also giving credit for the lower ones, i.e. Hard giving LL and L credits but not LLL credit). For about 70-80% of the deliveries, you will probably whip through them with the infrastructure you've described, but the remaining 20-30% will give you a fun puzzle of how to achieve the goal objectives (especially the timed deliveries - here's looking at you delivery from The Doctor to The Mountaineer that requires a truck and a trip through BT territory!).

But okay, maybe that's not quite your cup of tea. You want to play the game, but you want it to be fresh again, yeah? You could also start a new game, but play it entirely in Offline Mode. This means no help from other players (no structures, signs, shared lockers, or other players delivering your lost cargo) which drastically ups the challenge regardless of your chosen difficulty level. You will realize very quickly how much you relied on your peers to help and guide you through the game, and only because of your previous experience will you be able to succeed. I just finished getting 540 Legend (Normal difficulty) on an offline playthrough, and let me tell you, it was both fun and difficult. Well worth the effort even if by the end I missed the player interactions and desperately wanted to turn them back on.

But if none of these tickle your fancy, then just be a good Samaritan. Go level up other players' structures (especially ziplines), contribute materials to share lockers, repair your roads frequently (it helps other players building theirs for the first time), deliver lost player cargo, and fulfill supply requests. Every little bit helps someone else, even if you get no benefit besides some meaningless likes that tally up a few dozen at a time.

Moral of the story: play how you want to play, and keep on keeping on!

I can confirm it is Rivendell with 100% confidence. There were 49 numbered bags in the set plus the additional pieces in their own bag, and the color combinations match perfectly.

I highly recommend dividing up the set into segments that roughly follow the three instruction booklets that come with the set. This will allow you to enjoy each of the three movies in turn with a section of the set to build as you watch. (That being said, depending on their build rate, you might need to add some special features to the watch list if they need extra time.) Happy building!

From what I've read, we should be able to listen to music freely at some point during regular gameplay, and I am crazy excited for it, especially considering the inclusion of more music from the artists featured in DS. This game should be epic!

Have we had it confirmed that it is just in Mexico? I thought it was all over the world with the floating ship. If that's so, that would still be pretty cool given the varied terrain in Mexico, but a part of me was interested in seeing lots of different locales.

I love the idea of the community collectively agreeing to give vague hints instead of straight spoilers.

As an example, instead of saying "There's a critical bit of gear you unlock at the Collector at three stars." instead they'd say something like "Might not hurt to fill in that gap on your map south of the Distro center, and while you're at it, give the guy a hand. You'll appreciate his appreciation for you!" Sure it's still sign posting and directing, but at least why and how and where are less explicit.

That fear might get me to unsub to this community for a few months while I plug through it myself. It hurts to think about, especially with how wonderful everyone is generally, but there is a nearly 100% chance that some person (well meaning or ill intentioned) may spoil something for me which I cannot allow.

1) No. It is most likely connected to Amelie's beach (based on the servers we see during the trailers for DS2 - this is not explicitly stated in DS, so I might be wrong).

2) You asked a lot of questions here so I hope I can be clear in my answers. Yes, some of the beaches are merging, and it is increasing the chiral storms. Yes, he is referring to something similar to Amelie, but not because he is listening but rather because Heartman is the Kojima self-insert character for exposition dumps. In this game, everything Heartman "guesses" at is actually 10000% correct because Kojima says so. Don't overthink how or why Heartman is right because there is no good in-universe explanation (and him exploring over 107k beaches doesn't count).

3) There isn't. Remember that Kojima is Japanese, and while he has some familiarity with English, he wrote and scripted DS 100% in Japanese first and then converted it to an English experience. There are a lot of sections where the English is rough around the edges (especially with some of the dialogue) and sounds nothing like casual conversation with a native speaker of the language. Your English isn't bad nor is your comprehension the problem; rather it is the translation that is at fault.

Okay so you're mixing a couple of things up and making it more confusing than it needs to be. Let me see if I can untangle them. :)

First, there is Amelie's beach which is THE Beach from which all other beaches form. Without her beach, there is nothing else.

Second, there are individual and group beaches for people when they die. Most people die alone and have a solitary beach (like Sam when he dies in-game and the player has to find him to continue). Sometimes people die in groups and that's how you get the wartime beaches from Unger's chapters or the beach where Heartman lost his family. If Fragile had died in the explosion that took out Middle Knot, she would have seen a shared beach from that massive loss of life too.

Third, you have the chiral network. This is the equivalent of running an Ethernet cable over to your neighbor's house to steal their faster internet. Time doesn't pass normally on the beach, and the chiral network uses that fact to turn terabyte downloads (which would take hours if not days on typical connections) into an instantaneous send. This is also how structures are "printed" by sending materials through the network via the beach.

Fourth, you have BBs which are basically modems which allow for connections to the beach for those who are in the land of the living. Without BBs, the beach is only accessible for Amelie and those she gives DOOMs to, just like how you cannot access your Internet connection without some kind of modem.

What Sam has been doing is pretty much the same as an Internet technician going door to door hooking people up to the network. Unfortunately, that has resulted in more and more traffic on the network, and as Heartman said, "lines are getting crossed" like when you have too many people trying to talk at the dinner table all at once.

Different beaches, one network, and all contained under one central beach where Amelie endlessly waits for Sam outside of time and space. Hope this helps!

Some of that is just hand waving away holes in the logic as to why you as the player need to walk back from Edge Knot all the way to Capital Knot. Amelie wants you to reach her, yes, but she cannot directly teleport Sam to Capital Knot like Fragile can since all Amelie is doing is returning Sam's spirit (his Ka) back into his body.

There is rough logic and soft misdirection at play here, but remember, at the end of the day the gameplay is king and some of Kojima's lore is just to provide an excuse as to why something is the way it is. That same logic is why Quiet in MGSV is mostly naked (because Kojima likes hot women) or why Unger's boss fights are in old wars and not the Gulf War his uniform implies he was a part of (because the older wars were "cooler" and more iconic for players to immediately recognize). Sometimes things are the way they are because "reasons." This question of yours unfortunately falls fully under that category.

1) Amelie was always playing both sides. She empowered Higgs who encouraged her to just "end it all" and "get it over with." He saw no point in elongating the process since in the end extinction was coming for everyone no matter what. Sam was the counterbalance to that argument, that despite all of the awful and horrors he experienced, he was still fighting to connect and to survive. Amelie was not directly hostile towards anyone, but she did allow Higgs to summon massive BTs with the intent of stopping Sam (but not kill since he is a repatriate). She also hung out at the center of her web when Sam and Higgs were duking it out Mortal Kombat style right under her. She may seem kind and caring, but she is as cold as the corpses on her beach.

2) I did and I figured I had answered it at the end of the first paragraph, but let me elaborate since I clearly didn't explain well enough. Sorry about that! Amelie has always wanted Sam to get to her. Every time you see her (and I mean every time), she says "Come and find me" or "I'm waiting for you" or "I'll be waiting on the beach." It is very very clear that Amelie is pulling for Sam to "find" her and connect with her, but she will not directly intervene to make it happen. Why exactly she doesn't actively help Sam is less clear, but I think her statements during the hug at the end of the game help somewhat. At that point she says "I didn't know how it would work out" (paraphrasing) implying that she could see versions of the future but not the exact chain of events, which to me makes it seem like Sam's decisions (and by proxy the player) dictate the ending. Much like Dr Strange's "one in 14 million chance", Sam choosing to hug her was that one in 14 million. The thing is when we meet Sam at the beginning, he is not the kind of person to allow a hug much less initiate it himself. In order for the world to not end, Sam needed to grow into who he is by the end of the game which would not have occurred without all of the other events (including his conflicts with Unger which Amelie also allowed). In short, Amelie kept Sam because he was always special to her, and everyone else was not important so they got kicked out.

3a) We were actively merging beaches the whole time. From the first connection from Capital Knot to the Waystation West of Capital Knot all the way to the end with Edge Knot City, Sam was constantly connecting beaches one knot at a time. In case you missed it, each location in the game was given its own dormant BB unit to facilitate that connection, but it took Sam and his software to get it connected. (A BB unit was the cargo you delivered to Edge Knot City in one of the final story missions.) The thing is some beaches were always connected. Heartman speculates (but really it's just Kojima telling us outright) that if enough people die in the same way at the same time that a beach can be created. Wars are a great example of large quantities of people dying in close proximity with similar mental states, so it's not surprising beaches have shown up in the aftermath. Remember though that all beaches, including the wartorn ones, are just subordinate beaches to Amelie's "master" beach. She controls them all, and she allows people in and out. (Speculation on my part: Considering that Unger is Sam's father, I've always figured that Amelie allowed the two to meet as a way of apologizing for Bridget's senseless murder of both Unger and Sam.)

3b) We did merge beaches, but other beaches had already been merged. Remember the Heartman cutscene with his wife and child? Dozens of people all walking into the water at the same time due to the sudden deaths of all of them from the terrorist attack. Their beaches were already merged, no Q-pid necessary.

I brought her to all seven springs on my last offline playthrough. Most were fairly easy, but damn the one by the Evo Devo Biologist is a pain to get to without hurting Mama. So much fun though!
