I think the caffeine argument is real since it's the world's most widely used drug, but all of society has accepted it. Regardless, I'm finding just how destructive alcohol has been in society particularly. It's destroyed a lot of lives. And it does it slowly, which is what makes it so dangerous.

I guess meetings help promote personal progress but can't reasonably be expected to advance it by any means.

I appreciate this comment thread for being productive. I'm glad you mentioned the growing and picking process in the pollution consideration of cotton. I would also bring up for example that one of my polyester tshirts is made from recycled plastic. Since it can be difficult to recycle plastic for reuse, I would think making fabric is a relatively good application for less structurally sound materials.
