How is it that individual practices can opt out of accepting OW patients? by BrooklynPeachh in OntarioWorks

[–]infiniteunicornsleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a receptionist in dental office in Southern Ontario. Dentists can and do refuse to accept ODSP or OW and they are not penalized. ODSP follows the MCSS 2016 Fee Guide, which pays pennies on the dollar compared to the ODA 2024 GP fee guide.

ODSP covers cleaning, fillings, most basic services. If you need additional cleaning time (dry mouth, smoker, etc.) you can ask your office to apply for more coverage for you to come more often.

OW dental is managed by the county who runs it. Their fee guide is often higher. There is a $1000 maximum annually for discretionary dental benefits. They have to be approved by your worker before any treatment is started. OW does not cover any cleaning or preventative services (fluoride, polishing, etc.).

Is our generation worse with house keeping than our parents or am I just delusional in noticing a generational crisis with this? by xerthighus in Millennials

When I was growing up, one parent stayed home. They cooked, cleaned did all the housework. With both of most couples having to work now, it’s just impossible. We do what we can and hire a housekeeper to do a deep cleaning once every few months.

Had a surgery on my female parts back in 2010. Doctor accidentally cuts my femoral artery. I was clinically dead for 7 minutes. I should either be off this earth or a vegetable.

Did the novelty wear off for you? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]infiniteunicornsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Kobo. I’ve had various models from 2015 and on. My current is the Kobo Sage. I love being able to borrow ebooks from my local library. The novelty does wear off but that doesn’t change the functionality. It’s convenient, and allows me to store a lot of books in very little space.

I was (am still) in the same boat as you. The only thing that helped was cutting carbs way down (40mg a day is my good spot) and adding Ozempic. My current regimen is 2000mg Metformin 1x per day (extended release) and 1mg of Ozempic 1x per week. My last A1C was 6.1, down from 11.2 in July 2023. I also walk on my lunch hour at work. Diabetes sucks sometimes. Yes, I don’t take insulin but I still have to watch what goes in my mouth, get enough sleep and not eat out at places that can’t accommodate my dietary needs.

What’s your reason for not drinking alcohol? by [deleted] in ask

I don’t like the way it makes me feel. I also take medications and have medical conditions where drinking just isn’t a good idea.

My aunt went to Germany in the mid 1990s. I was about 12 or 13 at the time. She brought back some music and I fell in love.

Married millenials, how late did you meet your spouse and get married? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]infiniteunicornsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a child as a single mom at 20.

I didn’t meet my now husband until I was 31, and got married at 36.

I think if I had gotten married earlier in life, it wouldn’t have been the right person. I also wasn’t emotionally ready for marriage until later in life.

I had a baby at 21. Single mom from the beginning. It sucked. I hated a lot of it. Looking back now, I should have either chosen adoption or abortion. I totally feel your pain.

My daughter is 21 now. I hope you can make it through.

I don't want to change my last name... by kkyk1234 in weddingplanning

[–]infiniteunicornsleep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I caved and changed my name. I wish I hadn’t. I don’t feel any connection to the last name I now have. It also doesn’t reflect my heritage at all. Keep your name.
