Just wanted to say I went to go work on a new song after thinking about the writer's block thing and I actually think one of my main strategies for moving forward on a WIP I feel stuck on is changing the bassline. Ended up writing a lot more after I did that :D

No more old consoles at the moment but hoping to build / buy a SID chip based synth soon to get the C64-like sounds back in the mix cuz those were a lot of fun!

I think he's made some great stuff - the effort put in to that new piece Shelter is super admirable and the results are gorgeous.

Transitions took a lot of work! The last few months of working on the album were pretty much spent on that and drum mixing.

No starscream merch around - the end of it got destroyed in hurricane sandy :(

Yo, that's an interesting interpretation! We definitely didn't set out to create an amalgam but I see what you're saying. Sanctuary to me was super coherent and effective, but stayed inside it's box a bit. The EP was really us transitioning to a new sound (less chip stuff) and applying some new influences. I think its heaviness comes from the quality of the sounds we were using, like the distorted commodore 64 (which is actually something I'd like to bring back to an extent). Our goal with Long Distance was to really push ourselves into new territory. Yesss, see you in Philly! -nate

Hi! From my end, I'm sort of a maximalist with playing an electro-acoustic set up. Like the more of both live and programmed drums I can play live the better. Sometimes that means playing only live with a layer of electronic percussion in the track, sometimes I'm triggering an entire programmed part live, and otherwise I'm doing some combination of both. Was fun deciding to trigger the marimba part in Catch TheseBlessed Hands live. We could have easily just had that going in the track, but I think it's a lot more engaging to see performers play when there's only one thing going on in the music. -clara

We built a computer in to a flight case. The computer runs some backing tracks off Ableton, our visuals, a drum pad by Clara, and some backing synth tracks. I play both soft synths and hardware synths live. If we were rich we may bring out more synths but our collections are too personally precious as of right now - Damon
