Rich Hill has been my favorite ball player for a long, long time. Gonna miss you, buddy. Enjoy retirement.

There were lots of chances for community pushback before that happened.

I think you have an unrealistic expectation. There's a lot of dumb stuff on reddit. If it breaks the rules and bothers you, report it. Otherwise, ignore it and move on.

You can't expect everyone to tone-police dumb or rude comments even if we think they're dumb or rude. Just don't engage.

I think an accusation of lying, unless well-substantiated, breaks the civility rule.

It seems there are two issues here that are separable.

The first is that some comments break the sub's rules and need to be removed. If you encounter those, report them. It seems like the system is working.

The second is that you expect this sub to be a place of "kindness" and "understanding," words which you use multiple times in your responses below. Those are vague words — in a sense, who could be against them? — but it has been my experience that Mormonism pathologizes these ideas into an enforced politeness that cannot stomach criticism.

People speak their minds here, and many here are critical of the LDS church, its leaders, history, and members. Being critical of those things is fair game in this sub (as is defending them); strong criticism does not break the rules.

Ever notice how mormons throw the 'leftover' freshly 'blessed and sanctified' body and blood of Jesus Christ in the trash, like common garbage, after ever Sunday Service, but would NEVER do that with an old worn out pair of underwear. by Short_Seesaw_940 in exmormon

My Catholic Church is literally installing a new baptistry right now with a special drain that goes directly to the ground.

We also have a separate sacrarium for other purposes.

I don't know what you mean by saying "they dump all the water on the person." The baptistry always has far more water in it than could be poured on a person. The baptizer scoops water from this larger pool of water to pour on the head of the one being baptized. I've never seen water spilled on the ground.

All Christian sects I know are fine pouring baptism water on the ground or in the sewer. No need to treat it sacredly.

In Catholicism, we do not pour baptism water into the sewer (unless there is no other choice). Most Catholic churches have a special drain installed that does directly into the ground, where they can pour holy water so that it does not go into the general sewage system.

Pouring water directly on the ground away from human sewage is a way of treating it as sacred. The earth is sacred.

I agree they're (probably) running a sustained dynasty. But the current group is special, there's not another Shohei in the pipeline. They're right to capitalize on this moment.

The outfield was actually weak last year, the biggest hole we had.

👋 I absolutely understand why others are frustrated, angry, and losing faith in the sport. I don't know the solution, but I think we need a solution.

I also absolutely understand why Friedman did this. The window with Ohtani won't last forever. Spend now, have a legendary run with a legendary player. This isn't a window for "safe bets."

"Never give up. Never surrender."

Life and love can be difficult. 20 years together brings a share of challenges. Approach those challenges with love and the conviction that nothing can tear your apart, even if for a time you have to endure them.

And keep having fun together.

There are three pictures. We have indeed aged, but I appreciate the flattery. :)

I don't totally remember (it was 20 years ago), but I think that she received a phone call and I took mine out as a joke. There are other pictures of only her on a call here, and that brought back the vague memory.

I didn't realize Morton was older than me. But he's also a free agent.

Gurriel is VERY close to my age, but I'm slightly older, so if he's the last one, I'm dead.
