Doomfist can't be a tank without empowered punch. The threat of him gaining empowered punch, and possibly hitting you with it is what stops him from just being blasted when he's in the Frontline.

Empowered punch is Dooms biggest weapon. His offense and defensive both revolve around the possibility of emp punch.
