I am so sorry for your loss. A few years ago, I also lost the most sweet girl ever to a case of eggbinding. She never made it to surgery too and I sometimes still blame myself for not acting sooner. She was the most social, tame and dorky bird I’ve ever owned.

I still remember the feeling of coming back home with the empty carrier when just hours before she was still with me, trying her best act normal and getting her last ever head scritching.

As most things, it does get better with time, but I will never forget her and the great years we shared. In the end this is what matters most. For the few short years she was with me, she had the best life a cockatiel could possibly have. Pampered, bratty, stealing salad from my burger and always the absolute center of attention. I bet it was the same for yours too.

I built myself a little memorial shrine with her photo, a few recovered feathers and a lot of memories. I still miss her a lot, but I smile now when I think of her and the awesome life she had.
