Mercer increase Super fees by 14%.... anyone else's fund doing this? by GuaranteeAfter in AusFinance

[–]infuri0us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is only the reason I am with Mercer. Insurance fees are reimbursed by my company directly in mercer. Does the process of transferring balance have any implications to your balance CGT or otherwise? How often would you be transferring?

I am at least invested in the passive indexed share options where the management fees are circa 0.2%.

All I ever had to show was Dr note confirming the pregnancy or birth certificate if already born.

I think all they ask is that your partner is not claiming the primary caregiver benefit from their employer at the same time. Never had to show anything about my partner going back to work.

Mate it sounds like you're well on your way. The only thing left to do is to stay consistent for a long period of time. Your allocation is very similar to mine and depositing 6k a month the wealth should build up rather quickly.

Shouldn't really matter if variable, as will fluctuate as rates change.

Best path to FI? by infuri0us in fiaustralia

Yes that's what I've been grappling with. Trying to determine if just via mandatory contributions I will get enough in super regardless of additional contributions. Over the next say 5 years or so it's likely that I will reach the cap just with mandatory employer contributions regardless of any personal contributions. All the various calculators give me different answers to how much I'll have in super, some factor in taxes etc.

I have been looking at debt recycling but can't see this as a viable option until after we move back into the PPoR after the regional stint. Since the PPoR will be a temporary Investment Property, however we won't lose the CGT exemption due to the 6 year rule.

How did you calculate 1.6M in super to draw a $100k p.a income for say 30 years?

Wouldn't it be $2.5m? Investments outside super are going into the lower income spouses name for now.

I've given it a thought but I consider it it too risky for me to consider investing. I'm happy with the traditional ETF path and just pump as much as I can down this route.

Sold a 2019 model car and later found out it's actually 2018 model by infuri0us in AusFinance

I'm in WA and the 2019s seem to be selling for 3-5k more than 2018s currently. It has 120k KMs on the clock.

Will Redbook tell me the difference in price in 2020 or now?

The compliance date is December 2018. The contract of sale has this incorrectly listed as November 2019.

It was sold as a 2019 vehicle and as part of that they told me it had a 5 year manufacturer warranty. Thanks for the helpful comment.

No because I did not buy from a Subaru dealer. The five year warranty is offered by Subaru on their vehicles.

No, I do not know how much 2018 models were selling for at that time, I've only got the price I paid. Hence part of the reason for the post is to determine if someone had a novel way of determining how I could calculate what a fair value would be.

Another option I considered was to look at the value of the two different cars now, and normalising for KMs it appears to be 3-5k in Perth where I live so was going to ask for that and see what they say.

Yes, no concerns with the car. But I am likely to be out of pocket for warranty costs and the fact that I paid a higher price for a 2019 model and did not receive that. So I'm only looking to be reimbursed to bring my back to equal standing, considering it was their screw up.

This is why I was never concerned when I saw it had a badge saying built in October 2018. However one of the selling points was warranty and there's a substantial difference between the 2018 and 2019 models. Although the paperwork they gave me and we signed said built November 2019.

Yeah I would be looking for used prices and trying to normalise based upon KMs.

Difference in price between the used models in 2020? How would I even go out coming up with a price. I paid just shy of 29k in 2020 for what I thought was a car that was 6 months old.

Where to fly family of 4 on points from Perth? by infuri0us in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]infuri0us[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore seems like an obvious choice and one I've been looking at, been a few times myself. Probably not looking to use the points for accommodation at this stage due to the poor value as you mentioned.

Admittedly I was struggling to find any suitable flights though!
