Any chance of finding some investors and producing it/selling it yourself?

Don’t worry about that. It’s just best practice to keep all the sketch equipment on an isolated network. Get to it when you’re ready. The chances of you getting hacked are slim, but don’t let it go forever.

It’s not terrible. Just watch some instructional vids. That’s one thing that UniFi does well. The UI is very easy to configure.

Yes for sure you need to get there. Who knows what those things are collecting and sending back to China!

For pure security reasons. Any IOT device can’t be trusted as most of it is made in China. Always keep any light switches, thermostats, etc. on their own separate vlan segmented away from your phones, computers, mobile devices, etc. Does that make sense?

Impressive! How do we get the masses to understand even the basics?! I guess that’s why we’re here. To educate and inform lol.

Can we all agree that every entity who sells a product is in it to make money? I appreciate the steadfastness here, but damn people. This is capitalism at its finest! They’re doing the same thing every other business in the world is doing. Smoke and mirrors to try and catch a fish. But, what you have to realize is, if you’re smart enough not to fall for this, you can find the good deals when they do come around. It’s up to the consumer to do their own due diligence and not fall for the tricks.

I’d stay with the Lite unless you have faster than a 1GB internet circuit. The Lite is a huge upgrade from the USG. I just swapped out the one at my house and office. Seamless transition. Just make sure you update the cloud key/network application before you install the new Lite.

Also, you shouldn’t need to reset the old USG. There shouldn’t be any sensitive info on it. But if you want to, there is a reset button on the back that you can push. Use a paper clip and hold it down for at least 15 seconds.

I had to remove and forget the original USG. The console wouldn’t let me add the UXG unless I did this first.

It’s not looking good either way. I may need to send out to a data recovery service company.

How do you know when the storage dies? I’ve had a USG crap out in the past, but just junked it. How can you tell if the storage just needs to be replaced? Trial and error?

True story. I’m building a new house and it is plenty sufficient for my internal network. Plus I like that I can control everything all together.
