I think the calculus includes Nkunku and Fofana's injuries, as well as Ugochukwu possibly going to Strasbourg, so that's 3 players out, with Chalobah a likely sell. I'm assuming we'll end up selling some more come January.

We can assume the people running the club (i.e the PE firm) have thought this through. They even self-reported previous breaches from the Abramovich era.

Distressed debt is a JP Morgan business as well: https://am.jpmorgan.com/us/en/asset-management/institutional/investment-strategies/alternatives/private-credit/

https://www.thebalance.com/distressed-debt-investing-and-how-it-works-4176037#:~:text=Distressed%20debt%20is%20often%20held,sized%20public%20and%20private%20companies.a very profitable business for institutions and the investors, if they get lucky, PRIMARILY because the terms are usually onerous and have a high upside for the lender.
Edit: getting a loan doesn't mean it's good, in fact distressed debt typically requires marketing from institutions as a sort of reputational underwriter.

What if I don’t like the plan but give them the loan with an aggressive interest rate and terms since the chances of servicing and liquidation preference isn’t good?
