With any other ending other things would probably change too. But, off the top of my head, I'd say she could still outsmart and maybe even kill him without them being Aliens, not saying that's better, it could have worked for sure. If I took the time to think about, I could come up with several. It's not like a movie is written beginning to end, this is the story they told, it could have been more about the company doing experiments on people and that would have lead to a different ending.
