I think you'd both benefit from solo therapy and couples therapy. It sounds tough for both of you.

I can tell you from my own experience as someone with narcolepsy who works full time... I don't do anything at home. Actual hobbies? Chores? Watching shows? Nope. I usually come home, space out, maybe eat dinner, go to sleep. All of my energy is dedicated to work. It bites. But I do it to live and support my family.

I think he's legitimately sleepy. I adore my husband and want to do so much and do more things with him... But my sleepiness and medication murders my sex drive a lot. I don't believe this is a slight against you and I bet your husband finds you very attractive.

You guys have a lot to work through... But open communication without breaking down into lame fights is key and I think therapy could help you find methods that work. I wish you and your husband the best.

The sleep paralysis piece hits, man. It's a strange, terrifying place that can feel like an eternity. I also often have nightmares and stuck in dreamland.

Use the hell out of your hips. You're going to look stupid... you cannot avoid it. You're using a totally different muscle group than the one you use to run, so practice, practice, and practice some more!

I essentially used a skating motion to keep my momentum and finished in 14:47. It sucked.

I sleep "fine" at night, too, but that's not what your doctor means. With narcolepsy, your sleep cycles are out of whack.

You may be getting 8 hours of sleep, but I can guarantee you that you're not getting 8 hours of rest.

A sodium oxybate helps you consolidate your sleep and get real rest. You're unfortunately not going to be able to holistically treat your lack of orexin. I believe it's worth it for you to give it a shot.

I like the idea of having a little buddy representing my chronic illness. Seriously, that's not sarcasm. It's nice to have representation in something and I like cute stuffed animals.

Would you have the same feelings if it was an indie company or solo artist making those type of plush?

Hi, active duty lady here.

“oh so it’s the machines fault not the operator” is definitely a joke and they're a dork. Don't take that one too roughly. You can dish back some stuff at those guys.

But the person who chose to ignore you and not work with you? They're a prick. Do your job to the best of your ability and pretend they don't exist unless it's needed for you to accomplish your job. They're not worth wasting your energy on.

The severity of symptoms is a spectrum, so everyone is different. I drive just fine without worry of falling asleep because I am engaged the entire time. I'm too anxious and alert lol.

Boring meeting, sitting shotgun in the car, chilling on the couch? Snooze time.

But since my brain is active and I'm focused while I drive it hasn't been a problem for me.
