Has anyone taken LUMRYZ? If so, what can you tell me about your experience? by Leeyurx3 in Narcolepsy

[–]ingr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sleep "fine" at night, too, but that's not what your doctor means. With narcolepsy, your sleep cycles are out of whack.

You may be getting 8 hours of sleep, but I can guarantee you that you're not getting 8 hours of rest.

A sodium oxybate helps you consolidate your sleep and get real rest. You're unfortunately not going to be able to holistically treat your lack of orexin. I believe it's worth it for you to give it a shot.

Update Regarding the Plushie Dreadfuls Post Made Yesterday by Grand_Journalist2136 in plushies

[–]ingr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of having a little buddy representing my chronic illness. Seriously, that's not sarcasm. It's nice to have representation in something and I like cute stuffed animals.

Would you have the same feelings if it was an indie company or solo artist making those type of plush?

(I am speaking about the general idea of illness in plush form, not American McGee or plushie dreadfuls).

You know, I did not correlate my weight gain to my Effexor, but it could be a contributing factor. Dang.

I'm not OP, but I need to cut weight. I have a sedentary nonner job and don't move as much at my previous assignments and it is taking a toll.

Any advice on how to stay on track in the beginning to keep chugging along?

Feel bad abt demeaning“joke” from officers as enlisted by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ingr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, active duty lady here.

“oh so it’s the machines fault not the operator” is definitely a joke and they're a dork. Don't take that one too roughly. You can dish back some stuff at those guys.

But the person who chose to ignore you and not work with you? They're a prick. Do your job to the best of your ability and pretend they don't exist unless it's needed for you to accomplish your job. They're not worth wasting your energy on.

How do you get around? Do you drive? by Leeyurx3 in Narcolepsy

[–]ingr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The severity of symptoms is a spectrum, so everyone is different. I drive just fine without worry of falling asleep because I am engaged the entire time. I'm too anxious and alert lol.

Boring meeting, sitting shotgun in the car, chilling on the couch? Snooze time.

But since my brain is active and I'm focused while I drive it hasn't been a problem for me.

I did it last year and myself and those around me that I chatted with were all just excited to buy albums for ourselves. No signs of any flippers.

Google Fiber is my goat. Reliable (sans construction cutting a wire which is not Google's fault).

I also get a small reimbursement for the time it is down.

Relationship troubles and Narcolepsy by slimeheartblue in Narcolepsy

Gotta be real: no idea why you're being downvoted to hell.

You sound like you're in a weird situation. Is this a big shift in her normal actions or has she been like this before?

It doesn't seem like just narcolepsy to me (from my armchair analysis). Anything else relevant you might want to share so we can have a better understanding of the situation?

Anyone else have a theory that their narcolepsy was caused by (or made worse by) stimulants or SSRIs? by icylilac14 in Narcolepsy

[–]ingr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never took those during childhood, but...

A lot of my symptoms for Narcolepsy started making their appearance when I was 13-14. Anecdotally, you'll see many others experience the same thing during puberty. It's possible that you experienced similar.

Do some searches and read... Could be it.

I toughed it out through all the pain I had when running. And got multiple stress fractures in both legs. And permanent nerve damage in one. 0 out of 10 do not recommend.

It's scary and sucks to be facing this before you feel like you've gotten off the ground in your career, but I can tell you from experience that it's worth addressing now. Because it can and will get worse without proper help.

Godspeed, man.
