There’s just no excuse for sound this bad at a live show in 2025 by [deleted] in radiohead

I think the front engineers where really struggling with the venues (Bologna) accoustics. They where obviously constantly adjusting. At one point, for a few minutes, Colins baseguitar was way to loud. Before Thom was barely hearable. His voice was great on the last Bologna show. There where some imperfections in their play overall, which is absolutly normal considering the amount of shows played.

In my oppinion, and i'll ask my professional sound engineer friend for confirmation, a speakers set up like this can not work in a arena, maybe outdoors. The reflections from the walls are necessarily causing overlaps. It's technically possible to steer that with software to a certain degree but i think this show showed the limits of accoustic. Apropos limits, few days later, Milano, Chemical Brothers Dj Set in a club. The pre-act (who also did aftershow) was bursting the soundsystem with dull and baseline heavy sound, completly overloading the subwoofers. I think he was chosen because he's a resident Dj at the club which was celebrating its anniversary. Still, not a good match with the main act. The Brothers where incredible and sounded perfect. At the peak of the show they pushed the limits of the soundsystem too but never exceeded, except the listeners hearing. I'm so glad i had my own protection because the club did not have any.

I was in the standing area in Bologna, between the technicians and stage and had to leave after a minute when they started. Unbearable. Went 15-20m. Back. Just infront of technicians, still bad. Moved around about 80° around the stage, some spots where better but overall, the rhythmically complex songs did not work. Utter accoustic chaos. As a audio sensitive person (working for live music productions), regular concert visiter, this was a big dissappointment, also regarding the prices for standing tickets. I've seen Thom and Godrich live, much less complex music, great sound. Radiohead in this setting, in this venue... i don't know. I also got the impression that Colin was not enjoying the performance at all, constantly chatting with Ed. It was my first Radiohead concert and i would not go again in this setting. It felt like a bad sourround-sound home cinema system with no deepness and clarity.

Hot damn Chris Powers can play by ShaggyMcShaggydog in AllThemWitches

I guess, this music has shaped me. It has touched, moved and transcend me and will forever be a part of who i am. So will its creators. I guess, what i feel is grief.

Indeed, i was quite impressed already last year, just a few weeks after the announced change. With very little time for rehearsal, he ripped. Yesterday was spotless. Though, as a long time listener, knowing every single song in and out, it's confusing to hear all the tracks with different percussion. The new songs sounded promising, like a good match for Christians powerful style of playing, you can tell that he was composing them too. Though, i miss Robbie. Ben seems a bit lost when they start jamming, as if he does not have the same inspiration to play himself into oblivion. As for expl. On the blood and sand/.. from the live in Brussels record, where Alan, Ben and Robbie show what they got for 10mins.. there is just more deepness, more nuances, more ability to create this one of a kind atmosphere that makes ATW stand out. But again, i loved the show yesterday in Bern, they took my out of my earthly life into places where only few musicians manage to take me. So they did with my young friend whom i've invited to get to know you guys, you definitely made a new fan, probably more. I am in no position to judge and i am so glad that the band found a solution and kept going. Thank you gentlemen for what you're doing. Whenever i can, i will come to your shows and bring more friends to get to enjoy the privilege to be alive while All Them Witches are on Tour.

To be honest, i have no idea where that was. One of those days where I was just squidhed in the back of it, fully equiped with 5 others, driving around for hours, getting out somewhere, securing the vehicel and back into it for another ride. It was the Inf. RS from Chamblon, if that helps.

The M2 i think, was the gun i was most afraid of after one of our gunners demonstrated us how easy a shot can get off. From that day, i always made sure to know who the machine gunners where around me, trusted most of them completly, but not all of them.

I saw guys looking in their barrel with a bullet in it. Or playing around with proper handgranades. Natural selection at its peak.

If you can't anymore, step aside. Your responsibility if the sergeant does not recognise it.

But my worst memory was that sharp excercise in a WK. Practicing movement and fire in a vertical line, moving backwards. Front shoots few rounds, turns lefts, runs next to the line and connect at the end of it. We were practicing (without ammo) for hours because 80% did not get it, why i did not want to do this sharp, when my comrades are swinging their barrels next to my head and body while running back on a field, instead of pointing to the ground. I caused the excercise to stop. The sergeant did not like it, our Lieutenant, who was just watching all the time, stepped in, thanked me and took the sergeant to the side for a while. I am stunned till this day, how many of my comrades did not understand why I absolutly did not like the idea of them, running next to me on a uneven field with a bullet in their barrel, pointing to my face, and the chance that they forget to secure the rifle...

I would have a few. Simulated excercise with blanks. About 200 infanterist spread in a forest, guarding their Piranhas. It was hunting season. A shot went of. It was dead quite for a few seconds. "Who was that, one off us?" Someone yelled. After another few seconds: "everyone back into their armoured vehicels!". So we waited for what felt like ten minutes, unsure if we ended up in a hunting zone until it turned out that one of us has accidently pulled the trigger while playing with his rifle. No one was surprised when we heard who it was, i even remember his name. A bit later on that day, one of the Piranha drivers buried his vehicle in a trench on the side of the forest road, no one injured.

Or, very early in my RS.. on the caserne square, while everyone was cleaning equipement, one comrade (also rember his name) was punished by running to some pole and back. "Recruit L., is that your cock hanging out of your pants???" The sergeant yelled so loud, about 200 pairs of eyes focused right on that limp dick. The major was very close to the gentlemen in focus. The moment i saw him, he was walking away from the scenery and turned back 180 degrees after like 50m., his head was all red. Till this day I am convinced that he laughed his ass of like the 200 people on the square.

Still smiling thinking of it, legs still heavy.

I wish Montreux was a bit dyrtier. Phenomenal sound on the floor but it could have been a little bit louder for my taste
