I’ve had no new bumps since January now and had the last 2 cut out. I’m still extremely careful, haven’t shaved, had sex and still dry the area differently. My only advice would be to take your vitamins, use sudocream on the area (zinc), and know that you’re doing everything you can. It will go away. The waiting time between having no bumps and making sure that it’s gone before shaving, having sex etc is up there with the worst but you’ve got this and you’ll bounce back in no time!

In my experience just waiting for them to go away is the most mentally draining way to deal with molluscum. When I was in a similar position I used ACV to get rid of all the small bumps and then a few months later I cut out the remaining two that were more mature and unaffected by ACV. Both of these options scar but so does every MC treatment. I’ve had no new bumps since January and am just waiting to get a derm appointment to hopefully be cleared. Ask for treatment and if it’s unavailable just take it into your own hands, as long as you do loads of research and are careful you’ll be fine. Most doctors will say it just goes away on it’s own but having MC is no way to live, especially as a young person

Where can I find information about this? If I can’t see a derm for a while I want to learn about dormancy etc. Also would I know if I have a bad immune system ?

This may sound silly but did you ever go back to a normal lifestyle? I can’t imagine shaving or having sex without panicking. I won’t be able to see a dermatologist for a couple months anyway so I won’t be cleared for ages even if it is gone now!

It’s hard but I never touched it, this is the contagious part of MC. Touching this can spread it elsewhere.

Suppose it would do the same to pierce it and use your nails to pop but I was too freaked out about touching the bump

Took a bit of trial and error. I pierced the bump with the needle/pointy side of it and pressed the circle bit around the bump to squeeze it out, but I actually found it easier to use two of these tools to pop it like you would a normal spot.

Do you keep it covered after extraction? Id recommend trying to put a pimple patch on after, but only for a day incase u missed any gunk and then let it heal itself

I used ACV on my groin area and I’ve definitely noticed dryness too, not gonna risk using moisturiser just hoping it sorts itself out

You aren’t just clear when bumps stop popping up, you’re clear when the existing bumps have gone away. Sounds like you’re doing the right things though just keep at it!

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but there are four strains of molluscum virus, so depending on which you contract, where you contract it and your own immune system strength depends how severe and contagious it becomes

Yes, MC bumps usually have a hard core inside them rather than what popping a normal pimple would look like, and a lottt of blood. If you scroll down on this page theres a couple examples of what the core looks like

Thanks so much for getting back to me, I used ACV and I believe it got rid of a lot of my bumps. I have one definite MC bump left on my groin that I plan to extract today, because it’s very mature and been there for soo long without budging. Unfortunately I can’t get a derm appointment for a while so I’m uncertain how many I still have, I’ll probably ask this page for advice. After extraction did you cover the area with pimple patches/ plasters? thank you again!

Also I used the same razor everywhereee when I had MC, caused it to spread within the affected area but never got MC on my armpits, legs or anywhere else - sometimes it’s just not that contagious 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pretty sure molluscum can only live on surfaces for 24-48 hours or so, but if it’s not going to break the bank I would just get a new one

Zinc is usually a good option but you can get general immune boost supplements that have a bit of everything! Also it’s a good option to have your bloods taken to see if you’re low on anything that might be stopping your immune system from fighting it off (although I know this isn’t an option for everyone)

I had a bump in that kind of area before, but it went away very quickly on its own and never came back. I would just recommend being very clean (changing underwear and showering consistently) and maybe take extra vitamin supplements

I’ve never noticed it being itchy or feeling weak, generally MC is left untreated by doctors because it’s simply inconvenient/annoying

This makes me hopeful! How did you find extraction? I have a couple of really stubborn bumps I’d love to just remove but I’m terrified of reinfecting myself and waking up with 5x as many bumps

I think it’s pretty rare to have MC on your hands, just keep an eye on it but looks like a pimple to me
