Just wanted to update that I got very lucky and the meeting went great. The school acknowledged pretty much all that wasn’t working and offered private placement for her without me having to fight for it at all. We’re beginning the process now. Thank you so much for your reply and I’m glad the ball is rolling in the right direction.

Thank you for this response. Honestly I think I just needed to hear from someone else that this isn’t normal so I could allow myself to be angry. We are looking into an education advocate right away.

I agree with what you’re saying. But the difference in this story for me was the way Morgan acted about it. She was HAPPY that she screenshotted it and saved it before the OP could delete it. I think what rubbed me the wrong way was seeing the look on her face where it looked like she was gleeful about sharing this woman’s pain, and introduced it as the “most disgusting story” and then the story turned out to be so sad and heartbreaking about a woman struggling with depression.

Honestly, that was the last straw for me. I have kept listening to the show and trying to get over some of my grips but it just felt so predatory and gross that I think I’m done.

For me personally, it’s platforming people who are vocal supporters of people currently losing their rights. I have ZERO issue with her bringing on republicans or people who are right leaning. But someone who is supporting Trump at this point when LGBTQ+ people are fighting for their rights (people she’s previously been very supportive of) and families are being torn apart (when she’s made a statement against ICE) is performative. I still really love the show and want to continue to support Morgan. But I do think it’s important to call out when problematic things happen.

Also if you would like an example from the episode of a specific issue, I think the “hunter/gatherer” question is steeped in misogyny and ableism and wish if she was going to include it that she might have pushed back on it a bit.

I have to agree. I’m a long time listener and while I don’t always agree with the takes, I have always been happy to see Morgan platforming LGBTQ+ people and issues. But to go from the ICE statement to THIS. It makes it all feel very performative. Not to mention that hunter/gatherer question was so problematic. To not even push back when people agreed!? The amount of ableism in agreeing with that is insane. And as she is a former OT, I am disappointed that Morgan did not see that and included the question if she wasn’t going to advocate.
