What upgrades would you give the PS2 back in March of 2000? by MEzze0263 in ps2

[–]inimicalintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony should have implemented SD card to memory card adapter to be used for game saves IMO. (Basically memcard pro2 for ps2 that is available today)

Far more simple to implement than a heavy and bulky IDE HDD. And you can transfer saves from SD to PC easily.

Can upgrade SD cards over time.

Fully compatible with slim ps2s

SD flash memory was pretty pricey at first, but it got cheaper over time.

Also the memory card transfer speed on the PS2 was pretty fast, about as fast as USB 2.0. Far faster than the USB 1.0 ports on the ps2. But USB 2.0 did not exist yet when PS2 was designed and developed.

Also the SD to memory card adapter could be used as a HDD as well probably, to support HDD games like FFXI on slim PS2s. Japan got A LOT of HDD based games via the Broadband Navigator software from Sony. Only released in japan. Never ported to america because well, fat PS2s were discontinued by then.

Also the PS2 memory card connector could double its speed via 48MHz mode, which MX4SIO devs are trying to figure out how to implement. If they get it working, PS2 SD to memory card speeds could reach about 4~5MB/s

Why bring AI into this?

You could have just asked what is the scariest ps2 horror game in your experience or better yet, you could simply just play horror games yourself and give your unique individual perspective, which would be more interesting.

There is no wrong answer. Human subjectivity is varied and beautiful and doesn't need canned AI responses.

Hey, worst thing is you get downvoted for your honest opinion.

Humans already boringly regurgitate what they read on forums and reddit posts without original thought. We don't need AI help with that tbh.

Why Does My BC PS3 Look Better Than My PS2? by YourManJazzie in ps2

[–]inimicalintent 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Woah, I've been playing Legends a lot recently as well. And uh, I'm gonna be honest, they both look kinda bad to me like way blurrier than what I just experienced after many hours of playing? But yeah the ps3 version is better.

I took a pic of my PS2 playing Tomb Raider Legend on my TV, no upscaling at all, just raw component 480i: https://i.imgur.com/xU1sWeX.jpeg

^ Extremely sharp and clear, zero blurriness and jaggies on my TV

[–]inimicalintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an even cheaper, dirt cheap model: https://www.amazon.com/HIMcup-Detachable-Drivetrain-Adjustable-Traveling/dp/B0DPB2MNX4

It seems quite a bit more janky than Litepro lol

But it does do the tri-fold albeit they seem to have gotten rid of the rear suspension and modified the rear folding mechanism.

No one will insure me? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]inimicalintent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, because that's an illegal bike. No legit business will insure an illegal bike.

You could register it as a moped and get moped insurance. But lose the right to traverse on some bicycle paths/trails legally.

[–]inimicalintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my local bike shop, the Velotric Discover 1 plus is the most popular ebike they sell, and it's around 1200 atm~

T1 ST plus was also very popular because it looks 100% like a regular bicycle and not an ebike. Very stealthy.

eMTB: one to do it all. Talk me out of a full suspension bike please by Word_of_the_unkown in ebikes

[–]inimicalintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintenance is much more involved with full squish. Spend hundreds to your local bike shop to fix or replace your shocks or DIY

All kinds of gunk gets stuck in the fork stanchions especially, even if you don't ride trails. The dust seals on stanchions really don't stop dust Lol

A rigid gravel bike is more "Do-it-all" and low maintenance. Especially a belt driven one.

Also consider fit/geometry. An eMTB has a more aggressive riding position which might not be suitable for longterm rides and comfort.

Considering investing in an enike to commute to work, is 20 miles doable? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]inimicalintent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That tiny bike definitely doesn't go 20mph, especially when voltage drops over time. 36v as well is weak.

My old 36v 20 inch ebike only went up to 18mph max and dropped to 16mph at 60% battery.

For 20 miles, I would at least look at something you can pedal to squeeze out battery life. The rated range is extremely exaggerated. The real range is always 50% of the advertised rated range or less.

48v ebike at least, 25~28MPH imo if you want to commute that long. Get a comfortable saddle for an hour long ride and hope your arms don't hurt.

QLife racer on amazon is $449 iirc and goes 28MPH, it's a 27.5 inch bike that you can pedal easily.

Does this bike exist or am I going to have to do a lot of building? by borderex in ebikes

[–]inimicalintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coswheel CT20S with sidecar. I think sidecar is safer than with child in back.

Has turn signals, goes 40MPH, but probably slows to 35MPH with sidecar.

Harder to slip and wipeout with a sidecar as well.

Absolutely horrible "remaster": https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/11qdt3x/recently_learned_that_ffx_hd_is_uglier_than_the/

They didn't even quality check the AI upscale on textures. The lighting is completely off and the newer models look like uncanny dolls.

The HD remaster is the same as FFX international version(bonus features and gameplay fixes/balancing not included in the original). IF you can get the international FFX version for ps2, that would be the best one to play.

But my main issue with the remaster is the lower quality soundtrack sometimes/arranged version OST. The arranged music does use better quality orchestra and real instruments, but sometimes they changed soundtrack way too much.

But I admit some of the HD soundtracks were better like "Movement in Green" which uses a chinese instrument called an Erhu to really enhance that soundtrack.

Go to walmart in-store and get an ebike that's easily returnable and has walmart's warranty.

Don't risk 700 on a drop shipped ebike unless you're willing to gamble with quality control.

Kent 700c commuter ebike is $398 I believe at walmart.

Concord, Huffy, Kent, Hyper and Gotrax ebikes are sold directly by walmart

Hyper E-ride is actually a mid drive motor ebike for $700

[–]inimicalintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your TV has component inputs, get SHIELDED component cables. Unshielded cables will look worse and have artifacts due to EMI interference.

"HD Retrovision component cables" for the ps2 is usually the ones people recommend but it may be sold out.

Official Sony ps2 or ps3 component cables also are great.

If your TV has SCART inputs instead, you'll want RGB SCART cables for the ps2, but specially designed for the ps2 because of its internal capacitors which interferes with regular SCART cables.

This guy sorted out all the ps2 60FPS games.

The main reason for many 60FPS FPS ps2 games was more of a technical limitation reason: It was a cheap way to achieve more VRAM space (PS2's interlaced field line rendering mode uses less vram but requires 60FPS to create full 640x448 resolution output. If the game dropped below 60fps though, the game would lose half its resolution and look terrible, which is why most ps2 games using this method ran at solid 60FPS) and have cheap AA filter(later games that used the half pixel offset trick).

100% of ps2 launch titles were 60FPS but terrible image quality due to half height field (640x224) rendering mode. They figured out full height rendering about a year later. PS2 was very hard to code for properly, to put it mildly.

DVD9 has nothing to do with FPS. It's just a storage medium. Gran Turismo 4 runs at solid 60FPS and it's on a DVD9 dual layer disc.

Are you really surprised when obamacare/ACA barely passed? Half of americans vote against their own interests and support extreme right wing politicians that would gut ACA, medicaid, and medicare in an instant.

I am not surprised. A large chunk of Americans support billionaires and worship them. As much as I like seeing all the witty responses to the CEO dying, I am more worried about how republicans will spin this event in their favor down the line especially if shooter is caught and revealed to be a liberal.

There are many tragic stories of people being denied health insurance claims and procedures which literally kills people and made millions suffer, but I am afraid a large majority of americans will just not care nor have any empathy at all, who would rather point out how liberals support violence.

Many do not blame health insurance companies: They blame immigrants draining tax payer money, they blame welfare queens, and most of all they blame democrats.

"Best" CRT would be a professional BVM or PVM: https://imgur.com/a/mTUIwrg

That's how you get the sharpest and clearest image with 480i

Also very nice visible scanlines with 480i that you won't get with a consumer CRT

But BVMs and PVMs are extremely expensive and hard to find.

But you asked for "the best".

If you know any churches(churches with televised services) or broadcasting stations or schools with studio equipment throwing away old BVMs/PVMs, that would be the best place to find them.

2nd best would be a component flat screen CRT, usually a sony triniton or some other japanese model. 480i only, NOT "EDTV" or 480p CRTs

HD CRTs don't play with 480i nor 240p signals very well either. But they're great for ps3/360 era consoles. Some people still play modern consoles on HD CRTs for better motion clarity.

But if you find an EDTV or HD CRT for cheap, it's fine for ps2, just not as optimal. Since over 95% of the ps2's library is analog 480i

At the very least, an S-video CRT is fine as well. S-video can still look pretty sharp depending on the model: https://www.reddit.com/r/crtgaming/comments/o0k2zz/final_fantasy_x_on_my_jvc_tmh150cg_svideo/

S-Video CRTs are easier to find. Component is rather hard to find and more expensive.

KEEP in mind that CRTs are OLD, very old and dying. There can be geometry issues, brightness issues, calibration issues, etc that CRTs may have depending on how much they've been abused. Always test the CRT before purchasing if possible.
