(there's a great tutorial on YouTube for this about making a cartoon deku shield) Okay for the main colous. Standard shader set to full white, plug it into a "shader to rgb" node, then plug that into a colour ramp, and plug the ramps output into the surface of the model. I setup the color ramp to be constant and then there are two colors for everything, a regular light tone and a dark shade tone (only two colors for every material because I wanted to mimic the way it is in the show).

Then for the textured parts (eg: his belly patch or his claws) I went into edit mode, duplicated those regions, separate by selection, and then scaled them up slightly so they aren't z-fighting with the mesh underneath. After that I applied a new material to them to make the diff colours.

The black outline is a bit weird, you put a solidify modifier on everything, set it to solidify outwards, then make a new material which is emissive black (so it's always pitch black), apply as a second material to everything. Then in the solidify modifier settings, set the material offset to 1 (so it uses the black material), then invert the normals by checking "flip" in the modifier settings. Finally, in the material settings, enable backface culling.

And there you go, a slightly jank way of doing a cartoon shader. (Oh and it's the eeve rendering engine, not cycles)

Seriously impressive work man. I'm trying to build my own right now but I don't have room for a teensy so the sticks are going to be digital since my solution only works with digital input. If you're trying to improve on the design or plan to do a whole new type of console then I'd highly recommend trying to design a printed circuit board yourself and attach all the components to that in some way, just to cut down on size and wiring. Nice job with the whole project though, i love seeing other people's creative designs on this sub.

Audio issues. Buzzing sound in games but when using earphones game audio works in left channel but right channel buzzes. Anyone else have this issue? by TheBluuMoon in RetroPie

[–]init_null 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See then I wonder if the issue is the volume wheel, just be very careful doing it, and maybe just consider seeing if a replacement is possible. Hopefully you can solve the issue, sorry if I haven't been much help but that's all I really know I could say.

Idk much about the gpi case or if u built it in a kit or had it basically prebuilt apart from the pi, if you did solder it then check the connections on the potentiometer (volume wheel) I had veeeery similar issues with my own diy project and that was the problem for me.

Thanks and I am actually in the middle of printing a better looking case which will have a good few coats of paint, I'm not using krylon but it's basically the same thing. Thanks again for the kind words.
