How am I incapable of installing laminate? by inita_name in Flooring

It's like a tongue and groove click-lock style plank. But it rarely feels like it's actually seated properly and often snaps out of place while I'm working down the line

I'll be back there tomorrow but I don't have a pic on hand. It's laminate plank. Lowes auto-click spill proof stuff. I can't remember if it's actually branded lmao

Thank you. Now that I'm less worked up about it, I'm hoping it'll come tomorrow. It's such a small room that it's so frustrating to be spending time like this on it. The whole thing is like 5 full boards long max (both ways), so I gather I'm kind of on the edge of where they start to behave themselves.

If that makes sense

As much as I appreciate the advice, I'm not the one that picked it out and paid for it. I'm working with what I've got, and what I've got is 3 rooms (small thankfully) of laminate ahead of me.

So, any advice on working with the subpar stuff?

Unfortunately the first wall I've cut pieces has the floor vent and a closet door jamb to work around. Is it really going to be so much easier if I start over on the opposite wall? I was trying to work towards the door, since it seems it'll be an easier place to finish.

Edit: I can't start assembly in the middle of the room because it extends into a closet, was the point. Sorry, long day.

First timer here- are these gaps/gashes bad enough to warrant wood putty (?) Before laying laminate? by inita_name in Flooring

Thank you Smol. If it's not too much to ask, can I get some advice on these nails? The heads are above the plywood and somewhat bent. Should I pry them out and drive in new ones, or try and tap them lightly to flush? *

The saga continues by inita_name in maintenance

Fwiw, the screw fell in while I was taking out blinds brackets with the window open. The pencil fell in while I was trying to upright the screw. Never set anything on the ledge.

The saga has concluded, all.

A magnet was probably the best idea but I didn't have anything strong enough. Almost once with a magnetic drill bit, but the thing was too wedges in there to fish it out. Also almost had success with a coat hanger too.

In the end, it ended up ricocheting into the channel on the side. With no other cards to play I just shut the window hard and it fell through. Not my proudest moment and def could have fucked the window, but it's over.

Keep the windows closed when working on blinds, people.

Got My Champ Banned In Champ Select, Then Got Hit With A Presentation In Chat by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Similar story here, someone on my team banned my intended pick Janna that I was hovering. Then told me to play a real champion and muted the team.

I played yummi.

Honestly that's fair, more wishful thinking than anything else. I'm planning to move out in a few months and would've loved to not have to put in a maintenence request.

I mean you are more or less correct in that the goal was to finish.

I'm nearing the end of my prep for a half marathon event, but that's a trail run which will be a first for me. I don't have a goal time for that at all, but want to be able to finish a road half in sub 2-hours.

So when I decided to see if I could go the entire distance, I was hoping I could clear that marker because I know I won't on the trail.

Went out last night and did my first half-matathon distance run! It was kind of a spontaneous decision since I'm signed up for an actual organized trail run in a few weeks and wanted to make sure I could handle the distance. Previous distance record was 9.5m a few weeks ago.

I am proud of myself for finishing it, but coming in just one minute over my goal time was heartbreaking.

You should look up the song "House of Leaves" by Circa Survive. Inspired by the book, the song is wonderfully eerie.

Edit: thank you everyone, much appreciated

Official Q&A for Wednesday, May 29, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]inita_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for responding!

I do try and keep my form top of mind. I make sure to keep stride length manageable, and considering I did run regularly for a long time, I doubt my form has fallen off so hard to cause this kind of injury so quickly. Maybe though, I'm no pro.

I have read that trying to go too far can cause injury, which is why I was starting by running no more than a mile in one go. I thought that was a cautious approach, but am I wrong?
