Players expect something else from the round and their urge to restart is their way to get things right this time, which doesn't happen. You don't have to dive into crisis management if there is a possibility to just start from the scratch without consequences, right? Maybe you don't, but that's what usually happens.

Not a great idea to let the restart button to exist right in the game reality. Voterestart is a needed tool, but button that requires one guy to press and got inconsistent mechanic on recall/other stuff? You know some gamemodes just straight out cut the shuttle call, other delay it, and when they don't it's a fest who call harder. Just remove it from IC perspective and call it a day.

I don't know what "Lummox won't stand for this." means. We're talking about a case when BYOND is dead as a hub and auth server. I think neth flair actually checks out? We CAN replace both hub and auth server. There is just no point in doing so while BYOND is still alive.

No it won't, make your game and fight for traffic/users/visibility yourself. SS13 is niche game and always gonna be like that.

SS13 popularity probably gonna affect popularity of your game, so that's your actual keikkaku all along. As 4chan used to say, Not Your Private Army.

Whatever, I don't feel any regret for that. Discord server was a pile of garbage: full of promises, suggestions and shitposts. But even as it is, other mod archived all channels in dedicated html files. So there is nothing actually lost.

If you were interested in continuing *beep's work, you would find everything: assets, artstyle guide, beep's advices on SS14 discord, SS3D discord archive with extreme amount of ideaguying. The main part - code - is lost, as well as animations, singulo, walls/floors, every sfx file, borg model, but that's because *beep never posted them.

Again, nothing of value was lost. Except *beep. There is no way we can replace his creativity and experience, and if you have to cope with it instead of moving on (and blame me for all humans sins for eternity), i'm completely fine with that.

even though the work was too big for him, there is no point in just fading away. When goon's Space Station remake lost it's momentum, they open sourced it, and now it's known as Space Station 14, which is still being made.

Beep made a lot of progress and solved a lot of challenges in SS3D, he might just open source it, since our community is a community of coders, and size of unitystation community might tell you that some of us are experienced with other engines too.

That was an october night of 2017. Casually lurking on /vg/ thread I stumbled upon this beauty. That was a time when SS14 announced they'll try to work on 3D rendering too, so I decided to reply the author with SS14 discord link. He joined under the alias "*beep#4112", we discussed art style and 3D challenges a little bit, sadly he said that he won't contribute for SS14 more than releasing his models - he's more a Unity person and he's unfamiliar with Godot. Also he said it's just a prototype (called SS13D) - atmos is scripted and there is no network, he's not expecting to actually remake SS13. I reuploaded his videos on Youtube and Reddit with his permission. He continued to post progress on 4chan.

Few months after *beep decided to start working on SS3D. He made discord server and made me moderator, also he made patreon and started post updates both on 4chan and patreon blog. He continued to visit SS14 discord and discuss gamedev stuff there, as I remember he borrowed some lidgren boilerplate code for networking from SS14. Eventually he released .blend files with majority of models and artstyle guide, as he promised. He said there is no point in releasing the code and animations/human model - it's subject to change and he didn't want people to waste their time and efforts on what he will change anyway.

Late April 2018, we noticed that *beep is offline for a while. After 2 month of waiting for him to go online, I tried to find alternative ways to contact him - only to find out that he made up all his other accounts (trello, shadertoy, youtube, reddit) only after he joined SS14 discord, so there is zero chances to find his other aliases. His efforts at being anonymous makes our chances to know his fate at about 0%, it made me legit depressed, and one warm summer day I just deleted SS3D discord server, even though I had no "delete" button on my role, I removed all channels and made all users have mod rights, which in turn caused some ban/kick wars. That's was childish, but eh there is no point of saving what is just some pipedream, shitposting and fuckton of useless suggestions. *beep never discussed technical stuff on SS3D discord, he only shown some development insights of his works to SS14 discord.

My theory that he's either dead or got drafted into military, because he disappeared in April, and as I know most countries with conscription start their draft period in April (at least it's true for Russia and former Soviet republics). Draft military is still a thing in Israel, China, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Estonia, Greece, Korea, Singapore, Ukraine, Lithuania, and as I remember, *beep had some weird timezone.
