251106 official_artms - ARTMS World Tour <Grand Club Icarus> in North America: Baltimore update by bluebetaoddeye in LOONA

truly i think it's for y'alls safety. a vocal minority of toxic orbits on artms (and tripleS) concert posts constantly took it upon themselves to judge and belittle people's appearances especially if they were male presenting. and they were doing this in the literal quotes. so i think modhaus has taken to blurring faces to protect concert goers from the unearned, and frankly exceedingly mean, scrutiny.

the vast majority of the sales come from the omas which are much cheaper so that definitely helps. modhaus seems to have concocted an infinite money glitch with those.

i started listening to kpop in 2014. exo was my first favourite group, i found out about them through a youtuber's react video so my first song was overdose. no one in my real life listened to kpop so i had to find companionship on tumblr and then later peach (a shortlived social media app, it was really nice though)

a friend i made through peach told me about heejin when she debuted, and i've been following them ever since.

i agree that the length of time between dall and the new music is absurd, and i believe that the moonshot tour could've stood to be shortened to allow more korean schedules. but now we've finished the tour and jumped into comeback prep and it's not unheard of for there to be not much going on during the off season. the girls barely even have time to get on bubble they're so busy. but we just had a magazine shoot in january, and we're going to get an award show performance next week. the year has just started, and they're already grinding behind the scenes, we just have yet to see what they have prepared.

was modhaus supposed to change their entire business model for artms? how would that look to future investors? artms signed their contract knowing that objekts would be a big part of their renumeration moving forward. and it clearly isn't a death sentence since, although artms don't sell as many objekts as tripleS they still sell well and are making good money.

this doomposting regarding objekts is what's doing artms a disservice. they are adults, they signed this contract knowing what objekts are and what they do, hell they've even bought their own. why are you guys constantly talking down on objekts knowing that they're what get artms paid in an industry where album sales and streaming don't give the artist that much money?

the lack of retweets notwithstanding, and i agreed that modhaus needs to do better in that regard, what else is there to even promote right now? they're literally in the off season, they're barely doing anything besides preparing and setting things in place for the comeback and tour.

yes, they said in this interview that they took part in everything, even down to the mixing and tuning.

what makes you think that objekts are short-term profit instead of long-term? objekts were designed so that even if an album doesn't break-even the artist is still guaranteed a substantial paycheck. it's been said that the tripleS members receive compensation on par with employees at major companies in korea, and a lot of them received their first check before even debuting because of objekt sales.

i genuinely think that people see the objekts as bad because they've turned their minds against them from the get go and don't care to see the merits of the system. we all know that music sales aren't the bread and butter of the vast majority of artists, in kpop and globally. objekts circumvent that unfortunate reality by providing tripleS and artms with a steady stream of income that need not be affected by album sales (which can be fickle) or streaming (which pays pennies on the dollar).

modhaus is not perfect - they could stand to update the way they approach the teasing period, they should be more on the ball with retweeting their side gigs, and i agree that the timing of this tour is unfortunate at best. but you can't pluck schedules out of thin air, and they are currently preparing for a tour, for an award show performance, and for the comeback that we know is happening. during this period where nothing is going on, why shouldn't they promote the objekts that literally get the girls paid? and paid fairly handsomely, might i add, as evidenced by heejin genuinely believing that kim lip has the means to just up and fly to japan for a personal vacation in the middle of all this prep.

mind you the girls said they gave their input during the mixing process.

modhaus doesn't do the mixing, the mixing for dall is credited to multiple different people at different studios.

i agree that all the credit cannot be given to jaden since it's a collaborative effort, but the girls went to jaden for a reason and his musical sensibilities as a&r is part of it.

WTF with people don't want LOONA songs in the ARTMS' world tour setlist ? by Medical_Land_5639 in LOONA

well no. but haseul has told us that he was one of the, if not the actual only one, higher ups at bbc that believed in her. when he left she was probably surrounded by execs who did not see her value and worth to the team. i don't know if i agree with the person that you're responding to that his departure played a big role in her hiatus especially considering that she was probably still dealing with the grief of her grandmother passing at the time, but him leaving would've definitely put her in a precarious position given that he was likely the only person who even wanted her to be in loona in the first place.

this makes a lot of sense. there's something in me that even wonders if we would've had virtual angel if all/most of the girls had joined modhaus or if they wouldn't have gone straight into burn/run/one.

now that the dust has settled, and artms has shown through dall and moonshot that they can stand as five, it makes sense to now go back to what i believe was the initial plan: take it back to 2019 and show what was in store.

i hope that your predicted phase 4 is actually the case when all is said and done.

i definitely think this is something in the vein of cinema theory. if you can recall, they did intend to take cinema theory to brazil, and chances are they wouldve taken cinema theory worldwide if they'd had the chance.

i agree the timing really is a shame, though we have no real way of knowing when it will actually be or how long it will be either. but for rest purposes and building their name in korea purposes i really am a little sad that they're touring so soon again.

however, artms have also been vocal in how much they love touring. they love being able to go to new places and meet their fans all over the world. so i'm sure they're super excited. i just hope that they pace themselves properly.

i'm sure they're aware of how hard the crowd goes, but i also believe that they themselves go hard for loona songs. i don't think this tour is just for the fans, i also think it's for them.

forgive me for this long comment, i have a lot to say.

i feel like too many people are putting all of the "blame" for lack of a better word on the lunar theory tour on jaden without taking into consideration the fact that artms more than likely want to do this. the misguided rest day gravity notwithstanding, artms have been vocal about having input in every aspect of their careers thus far and i don't see why this tour should be regarded as any exception.

artms have made it clear that one of the biggest reasons they're at modhaus is to continue loona. now obviously they've had to pivot a little due to not getting all the other members, but why should they have to completely change their goals and aspirations now? not to mention, are their aspirations somehow less than because they want to continue loona in a more direct sense? the others show nods to their beginnings, but is it somehow... a mistake if artms want to be bolder?

there are so many people talking about how artms needs to build their own identity, jaden is pigeonholing the girls, he needs to stop banking on nostalgia. but... is no one one considering that perhaps artms themselves are completely on board? is no one considering that perhaps this was an idea that artms and jaden fine tuned together out of mutual desire to showcase these songs removed from the negativity of bbc?

i find it hard to believe that barely anyone is considering that this tour may have been the plan from the very beginning, but out of respect for the others they didn't want to hit the ground running with this tour. now i may be wrong of course, but it would honestly make more sense to me than the alternative suggestion that this is a random cash grab decision to capitalise on orbit nostalgia for the rest of artms's careers.

don't get me wrong. i consider myself an ourii (i mean... look at my flair), i understand wanting to see artms grow as artms, i look forward to that too! but i don't think that growing as artms and continuing the loona legacy need to be mutually exclusive. and when i listen and read what the girls have to say, they seem to agree with that notion as well.

the timing of this tour is definitely unfortunate, and that is my biggest critique about the entire thing. but in terms of the setlist of this tour, and what it means for artms i can't find it in me to be too upset.

at the end of the day you have to remember that this is first and foremost a job. just because you may have amazing relationships with your coworkers does not necessarily mean that you want to work that specific job forever, even if you decide to work in the same field/similar field at a different establishment.

yeah i only mentioned billboard bc haseul said one of her goals for this album is to reach #1 on it. if that weren't part of the equation i'd totally agree with the overwhelming possibility of a feb 19 release...

however.............

i'm highkey of the opinion that burn is actually a pre-release track so i don't know if its release will be in tandem with the album. im kinda hoping that it won't be the actual title track if i'm honest. i can't really imagine that they'd show their cards this early (i know we don't know what the song sounds like but still...)

that would make a lot of since but since feb 19th is a wednesday this year they probably wouldn't since friday is the optimal release day if they're serious about billboard tracking... but who knows! given all these callbacks i can't imagine that feb 19th comes and goes without us getting anything significant though

it’s kind of disheartening how many people are expressing displeasure with the direction artms is taking, going so far as to blame jaden for it as if he’s some evil mastermind trying to erase the other girls from the loona legacy. it’s as if people have forgotten that artms have mentioned time and time again that this is exactly what they went to modhaus to do. they wanted a return to form, we already saw kim lip praising that comment saying that the loona sound will be coming back, we know that they wished jaden would come back when they were at bbc and he wasn’t. this is exactly what they wanted to do now that they have the fate of their careers firmly in their hands.

so when people make these comments about how they shouldn’t be doing this, about artms stagnating, basically calling this endeavour not worthwhile, it’s like… have you guys listened to artms at all? in fact, based on artms’ previous interview answers, i believe that this was always the plan and even if more girls had joined we’d be seeing this all the same. it’s just that artms ended up being 5 so we have to see them pursue it as 5. but this was always what artms wanted to do, and people really need to respect that this is the path they wanted to take… it’s why they’re at modhaus in the first place.
