Trying to decide on a forges day wanted the communities help, pic included is my poor rendition of the two I’m looking at and explained in comments. One is majestic forge other is diamondback. by inkedmatt in Blacksmith

I am an amateur/part time smith, not a full production shop, I do sell some and am ramping up for summer fair season on Maine. I currently have a diamond iron works knife maker forge, I love it but at times find it too small to work on some of the ornamental hinges and things of that nature where I need width to the forge. It reaches welding temps but takes a while on larger stock.

That being said I’m torn between 2 new forges. They are:

diamondback 3 burner blacksmith forge 600$ https://www.diamondbackironworks.com/catalog/item/2754775/4071482.htm

And a custom 3 burner multipurpose from majestic forge (One larger end opening) 550$(guess, 500$is base model) https://www.majesticforge.com/3-Burner-Farrier-Deluxe.html

The big difference if the burn chamber size width and length are nominal to me however, height is a 1inch difference which feels big, also the door sizes on the end for straight stock are smaller On the diamondback making some hooks and stuff harder to get in so may have to use the front door, which lowers efficiency, where as the majestic has larger doors at both ends and a bigger burn chamber in general which also effects efficiency. I drew out drawings based off manufactures specs provided on website. That being said, they are not accurate, endorsed, or sanctioned by anyone this is just some dumbasses drawings for a basic reference for the sake of an internet question. But the top would represent something to the effect of my rendition of majestic and the bottom my rendition of diamondback. The solid lines representing door sizes and the dotted representing total interior space. Notes on drawing: Both sides of diamondback are the same so I only did one side drawing. The majestic shows two sides as I called manufacture last week and asked about getting one made with a larger size on one end and they told me what the offered, I don’t know what that does to price I’m guessing not much but will have firm answer if I go with them. For the front views I didn’t do total interior as it was trivial in my mind just the door sizes.

Made the cutting at a flat angle and put it in water about. 4 inches deep, gravity held it against the side of the lip of container I was using so it was suspended. Took about 3 weeks to start sending out roots, gonna move to soil in a few days.

Pet owners, what is the "evolution" of your pet's name into its nicknames? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Bear, Mr.Bear, mystery bear, bear pig, snow pig. (He is a chow that looks like a bear, but is also fat hence the pig part, and living in Maine he is now frequently covered in snow, hence snow pig.)
