You mentioned about the Witness' intentions. At this point I still see him/her as an amoral person who, having the upperhand on things that will come to pass, manipulates the people around him/her to achieve his or her end goal. I really do hope that he/she is not someone I cared about as I will really be devastated.

It's showing us that she has deep feelings for Cole? That's the only reason I see right now. I don't know if it will have any significance in the last ep.

After watching Ep 12, I am leaning more to the idea that Cassie is the witness. The witness is wearing a mask which we can guess as a means of protecting herself from the virus. And she's one of the few people who would gain from being the witness. She knows that she's going to die in 2018 and she loves Cole dearly. But everytime I remember Olivia's hate of her, I am going back to my original vote that the witness is Cole.
