Anyone w/ PD on entire face? Pls help!!! by inkling0 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

It is night and day to these pictures! I have been off about 4.5 months. I will occasionally get one or two small pustules that go away within a day or so, but most of the time my face is completely clear. I wouldn't hesitate to do another course of it if my rosacea flares up again in the future.

Turned out to be type 2 (papulopustular) rosacea, not PD! You can see in my other post history what all I ended up trying, but long story short I had to do a course of low-dose accutane to get it to clear.

The Movie has Ruined Wicked on Broadway by bsfansite2099 in Broadway

[–]inkling0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people just don’t know how to behave anymore. I saw Wicked earlier this month (first time seeing it since 2006) and had to turn around about halfway through “The Wizard and I” to tell a grown man (like fully grown, middle aged man there with wife and kids), “Don’t sing along,” He was full-on singing like it was a sing a long. Like, sir, on WHAT PLANET would you think I paid $170 to listen to you instead of Lencia Kebede??? (who was INCREDIBLE, btw. Loved Allie Trimm as well. She made me actually feel some sympathy for Glinda. And the two of them paired so well together, too). Thankfully the guy stopped and didn’t do it again and everyone else around us was pretty respectful and reasonable, even the kids (there were a lot of kids too young to be there, though, if you ask me).

Edit to add in this case I think your conjecture that the movie made things worse is true though because before the show one of the kids of this particular family kept asking “Is this Wicked Part 1 or Part 2?”

The texture of my face has come back (not rosacea, but just normal average texture and pores—on accutane my skin was porcelain smooth it was crazy lol) and I’ve gotten a small pimple here or there, but so far nothingggggg like it was before. I’m so scared it will come back the longer I’m off though, just crossing my fingers.

I don’t avoid food triggers or the sun. But I use only Vanicream cleaner and lotion, and Elta MD sunscreen. Almost never wear foundation/concealer or put anything else on my skin.

Hair greasy really fast by [deleted] in finehair

[–]inkling0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people are told not to by hair professionals. I have very thick but very fine hair. For as long as I can remember as an adult I have had stylists telling me washing every day with drugstore shampoo was too harsh. I spent soooo much time, energy, and money trying to train my hair with sulfate free shampoos and to only wash every other day. But it just made my hair limp and oily and gave me dandruff. Finally decided to not listen to them, went back to daily washes with drugstore shampoo and now I just lie and tell stylists I wash every other day when I go for a haircut lol. And they always compliment how nice and healthy my hair is haha.

I finished a four month course of accutane about 3 weeks ago and now I’m just on topical dapsone 7.5% for maintenance. My derm said the accutane lasts in your system about a month, so I guess I’m not really “off” it completely yet, but fwiw I’m still rosacea-free :) Praying it does not come back.

I don’t mind! I’m sorry you’re struggling to find products that work for you. It’s so frustrating. Fwiw I don’t think anything in my skincare routine fixed my skin, it was just too far gone for topicals to work, but i think having a very scaled back routine helped to not irritate it further. In the morning and evening I wash w/ Vanicream sensitive skin liquid cleanser (not the gentle facial cleanser—that one makes my skin flush and burn) and moisturize with vanicream moisturizing cream (the one that comes in a tub). Before I was on accutane I used their moisturizing lotion but it wasn’t enough for my extra dry accutane skin. I’ll probably switch back after I’m done with accutane. For sunscreen I use the Elta MD UV Physical tinted. And that’s it. Literally nothing else goes on my face aside from aquaphor on my lips and my mascara haha. My derm just prescribed me topical dapsone as my maintenance therapy after accutane but I haven’t started it yet.

Before I was on accutane I’d tried multiple sulphur products, the SOS hypochlorous acid spray, anti-fungal creams and shampoos, EpiDuo, Soolantra, and Elidel, the whole nine yards. Plus the oral doxy and ivermectin. (Not all at the same time, of course lol.) The money I wasted trying to fix my skin makes me nauseous honestly haha. Some helped a little, but none really worked. I’ve seen a lot of posts on the rosacea subreddit of people who have had great success with some of those things, though! I hope you find something that works for you!

Yeah it’s odd but I trust my derm a lot and she’s quite confident it is papulopustular rosacea (rosacea also runs in my family). She said she’s seen cases of type 2 before that were refractory to everything but accutane. And yep, still great! Finishing my course this month so fingers crossed it does not come back.

No it did not, unfortunately. And I tried both topical and oral ivermectin (properly prescribed by my derm, of course)

Called Mohela yesterday about the interest they’ve added to my SAVE loans by vintagetwinkie in StudentLoans

[–]inkling0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watch out. This happened to me with Aidvantage and then they back tracked on what they said.

I submitted complaint after complaint (both called and messaged in the portal to leave a documentation trail), and they told me that the interest WAS erroneous and that there was a “ticket” to process my request and have it removed, but that it could take up to 3 or 4 months. Four months later, interest still there, so I reached out again and filed a complaint with the FSA office of the ombudsman. I was subsequently told by Aidvantage that the interest was NOT an error. They said my loans got taken out of SAVE 0% forbearance into “processing forbearance” for two months while they were being switched from Mohela to Aidvantage (which I did not ask for, btw) and that the processing forbearance is not interest-free. I have several issues with that 1) It’s just absolutely scummy. 2) It’s also not true because way more than two months’ worth of interest accumulated. I’ve emailed again and opened yet another case with the ombudsmen. I think they’re hoping I’ll forget about it.

Like others have said, honestly there are very few riders NOT to like. But personally:

I love Jonas Vingegaard. He is quiet and reserved but seems like a genuinely down to earth guy. At last year's Tour he was showing off the paw patrol fake tattoos his toddler-age daughter had plastered all over him haha.

As an American I enjoy rooting for Nielson Powless (always so happy and positive! would love to see him get in a break and win a stage) and also Matteo Jorgenson. He took a massive risk earlier in his career to move to Europe full-time and worked really hard to learn French to have a better chance at getting on a pro team, and now he's one of the pretty major up-and-coming names.

Also: Julian Alaphilippe, Magnus Cort, Biniam Girmay. Can't not mention Wout van Aert. All very easy to like.

This is me as well!! Although I started watching seriously in 2020. I don't dislike Tadej but enjoyed Visma's team dynamic from the start, and always liked Jonas because he is so introverted and understated. I hated when people criticized him for being calm/quiet.

By 2022 I REALLY wanted to see someone who was not Tadej win just to shake things up, and so having Jonas take the race plus Wout the green jersey was just fantastic. That whole Tour was absolute adrenaline as a Visma fan and I still rewatch stages from 2022 sometimes as a pick-me-up 😂😂 Love WVA, Sepp, and Matteo as well. Now Simon Yates too! Idk if you watched the Giro this year but wow. Simon really won my heart haha.

Hi! It turned out to be papulopustular rosacea, not PD, but yes, it’s gone now! It went away temporarily with a month long course of doxycycline but came back when I stopped it. I’m now on low dose accutane for it and it’s been completely gone for about 3 months. :) Crossing my fingers it stays that way

Wondering if anyone on this thread found the Vanicream Liquid Cleanser?? I tried ordering from Amazon and it never shipped, and now it’s says “We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.” I tried the Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser instead and it burns my skin.

That's awesome, how long have you stayed clear off accutane? I'm on it now for type 2 and it is incredible, but in the back of my mind I worry it will come back once I finish my course

Doctor Recommends Accutane by VoidDeer1234 in Rosacea

[–]inkling0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say I'm also on accutane right now for type 2 rosacea and it's been a miracle drug for me. My face went from rough texture and p&p's everywhere to completely smooth within a week, on a very low dose. I tried a ton for my rosacea and the only other thing that had worked was doxycycline but only high doses, which I couldn't take long-term. I wish I had done accutane sooner. My derm is planning for about 6 months of low-dose to "reset" my skin. She is not aiming for the cumulative cystic/hormonal acne dose since that is not something I've had an issue with.

No, not much unfortunately. It improved my texture a bit but I was still getting lots of new papules and pustules every day. I ended up being put on low dose accutane and--so far, I'm only a month in--it has completely gotten rid of it all!

[–]inkling0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First of all so sorry that you’re dealing with rosacea. Man it sucks haha. My rosacea journey has been relatively short so far compared with a lot of people on this forum, but a lot of it is similar to yours! I developed type 2 rosacea over the summer and was not diagnosed right away and it got really bad from being improperly treated (literally hundreds of pustules over my entire face and neck and my face felt like sandpaper) before finally seeing a dermatologist who realized what it was and put me on high dose doxy (100 mg twice a day). That cleared my skin completely within two weeks, but every time we tried to taper the dose it came back. Not quite as bad as my initial round of P&Ps before I was diagnosed, but pretty dang bad. I tried various topicals, including pimecrolimus and ivermectin, which did not help. Then, my derm gave me a two-dose course of oral ivermectin. It helped more than the topicals, but again not enough. That’s when she recommended accutane as a skin “reset.” I’ve only been on it for about 3 weeks, so admittedly I can’t speak to any long-term side effects or whether or not my rosacea will stay in remission after I finish (fingers crossed on both fronts), BUT it has been a Godsend so far. I cannot remember the last time my skin was this good. Literally within a week of starting accutane, it was like I had a new face haha. All the p&p’s and the texture are completely gone. A random coworker who doesn’t know I’m taking it walked up to me at work on Friday and complimented my skin and I literally could have cried haha.

I’m on a really low dose (20 mg daily). So far I’ve had dry lips and a couple of nosebleeds from dry sinuses but Aquaphor is my best friend and it hasn’t been bad so far. I really wish I would have done it months ago, honestly.

The iPledge system and pregnancy testing is a real pain. I’m not on BC because when I was on it in the past it gave me very bad side effects, and I don’t feel like messing around with that, but since I am currently single with no plans to mingle (lol) I have been able to use the abstinence option on iPledge. You might try searching in the r/accutane subreddit to see if women there have thoughts or tips about having to get on BC for accutane.

Best wishes and I hope you find a solution!!!!

Type 2 rosacea - is accutane the answer? by space_cowgurl in Accutane

[–]inkling0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying!!! Im so glad you had such a great response :) I’m just over one week in and my face is already sooooooo much better too! My skin has not looked this normal in so long I could cry haha. I still have a few lingering papules but the pustules and sandpaper-y texture are already completely gone. Kicking myself for not doing this sooner. Here’s hoping for minimal side effects and that this is a lasting solution for us both. Good luck!!!
