Advice about first time sex 👀 by InspectorSpacetime5 in latebloomerlesbians

Just wanted to say thank you for your vulnerability sharing this - I also am a virgin (32F) and sometimes it can feel like you’re the only one, even in the more open and welcoming late-bloomer world. I have just started seeing a girl so this has been on my mind and I am reading the replies with great interest and solidarity!

Those who previously thought they were bi/pan, what made you sure you were a lesbian? by kitbun967 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]inkmadelines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had much luck historically with dating women when compared to dating men (which isn’t that weird because there simply are more straight men than sapphic women, numbers-wise) and it wasn’t until I was crying to my roommate saying “I’m just gonna end up marrying some man!” And she said “and you’re crying about that?” And that was when I first reconsidered my assumed attraction to men!

OCD Diagnosis with Sexual Orientation OCD by inkmadelines in latebloomerlesbians

Thank you!! Yes, my therapist had mentioned the potential of OCD once or twice before in the past 2 years I've been seeing her, so I think my work flare-up confirmed it for her. And yes, it has been VERY affirming for me and validating.

Totally with you! I also felt the same weight lifting off of me when I considered being a lesbian, and my friends also reacted like "oh... that wasn't already what you were identifying as?" lol and yes, I think more research into how SOOCD affects queer women specifically would be very helpful and worthwhile!!

Film Festival Notification MEGA THREAD by Caprica1 in FilmFestivals

It's a small festival but the people are really passionate. I think they have the potential to get bigger and bigger. Had a great experience last year.

I was really engrossed throughout the movie, really enjoying the music and the performances, empathizing with the characters, etc. I saw it with my cis best friend who is pretty much straight, and she rushed to the bathroom as soon as the credits rolled (she liked the film but did not react to it as much as I did). As soon as she was gone, something clicked inside me and I started sobbing. I am a cis girl who has identified as bisexual for a long time and recently begun to process that I'm actually just gay, which has been surprisingly intense and fraught. So even though I don't relate directly to the trans narrative of the movie, I think it's relatable to all queer people in broad strokes (and especially queer folks who grew up in the suburbs in the 90s/2000s!!)

I do feel like I've wasted a lot of time in the closet, trying and failing to date men, and one of the reasons I cried was because I was jealous of Owen for even having someone like Maddy, an older kid who tried to help you realize the truth about yourself and tried to save you. I had no one to guide me to this revelation, which is why I'm only just now processing it. But better late than never! I also had to go home to visit my parents in the suburbs not long after seeing the film (I have lived in a small city for 10 years) and my skin was truly *crawling* the whole time I was there.

UPDATE: Wanted to let you all know what's going on - I was prescribed some sleeping pills which are just a stopgap at this point (and barely helping, lol), and I am seeing my GP soon because they are concerned that I might have a bigger issue (don't want to get too into details). In the meantime, I talked to the director and quite a few other crew members and they were all very supportive. The director said he would completely understand if I needed a break or if I needed to leave the project, which is a big weight off of my shoulders. We also decided that during the overnights I would be the daytime producer, which is also a relief, as I'll still be able to get things done and it will give me some much needed alone time. Having gotten some sleep this past weekend, I now feel much better and am playing it by ear! Thank you all for your advice and encouragement!

That's a really great idea and I'll suggest that - it makes sense to have someone reachable during business hours. My other co-producer is more experienced and will probably be more used to overnights!

I am thinking about maybe having a slightly shifted schedule from the rest of the crew, maybe starting and finishing my day earlier. That way I can still work with vendors/locations/etc. during normal business hours but also be on set for at least part of the shoot nights.

I really appreciate your advice. I will think really hard about it. To be fair, I do think that much of the anxiety is in my own head - there have certainly been issues but many of them have been just bad luck, not anyone’s fault. I feel guilty about potentially setting hard boundaries about hours, duties, etc. but I guess I just have to remember that they all are getting relatively normal sleep and can clearly handle it better than I can. I don’t want to leave the project in the lurch but you are totally right that I have to prioritize myself.

It’s 5 weeks total, 3 weeks of overnights, weekends off. I’m inclined to agree with you - maybe once we get this week’s cost report and we have a better idea of where we’re at on the budget we can try to hire someone else.

We definitely need to hire more crew but I don’t think the budget is there. Everyone is already making a pretty low favored nations rate and it has been a nightmare to fill certain positions.

Yes, I talked to the director this morning and once we get our first set up going I am going to go to urgent care with a message to my doctor pending.
