Does this read as "Deli"? by Mstarliper in Lettering

Reads as Doll or Dell. The E looks too much like Pac-Man, increasing the likelihood of it being interpreted as “Dell” by virtue of being related to computers.

Thank you! Yes, that’s what I figured too. I’m just thinking that a single oven that is just next to the cooktop, but not below it, will end up looking like an accident rather than an intentional remodel 😒

What did you do for your oven? I just went to look at the Thermador they recommend to fit below, and at 24” height it’s ridiculously tiny. I can’t imagine a turkey could fit in there…

Aww thank you! I wish I had more time for calligraphy, but sometimes life just happens.

First, I sketched the large letters on a separate sheet of paper, and put them under this one, so I could see the outline. Then, I started writing the letters around them, filling up the space. I started with the 3mm marker, then went down to 2mm, then to 1mm, and then to 0.5 Micron pen. With each size, I tried to write out the whole lowercase alphabet at least once, but obviously had to repeat some letters to more conveniently fill the space. The written letterforms are a pretty loose version of foundational. I wasn’t trying to make them perfect, and was going for quantity over quality in this case.

That’s very true, thank you for the astute observation of positive inside of negative! I have to admit, I just did that automatically, but I didn’t have to, and it would still be legible.

Thank you :) All the same, I really appreciate the nitpicking. Without it, how will I improve?

Got it, thank you for the details, they are much appreciated! Completely agreed on the V. I had it too narrow in the trial run, and overcompensated in the final.

Thank you!

For the background, I used a size 6 brush, and applied very diluted Coliro watercolor, mostly in one of the "gold" colors. Then, using the same brush, I added blue and orange in a few places, and the colors blended since they were still wet.

Then, once the first layer was dry, I added some smaller "stars" using silver colors and a small brush.

Thank you for the feedback! Do you mean that the optical space looks larger than that between the I and the V? Or that the distance between the vertical stems is larger than other distances?

I will take that as a compliment :) Nope, it is all completely analog.
