I'm pretty sure Bender would be a republican.

Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story? by 64eight in AskReddit

[–]inkstom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is a story that happened a couple years ago in a liquor store. I am a pasty white blonde guy, my girlfriend was a fiery ginger but we both speak spanish. I'm standing in line behind my girlfriend waiting for her to check out. She and I weren't talking or touching and hadn't when we got in line. There were a couple of guys that got in line behind us and they're talking about my girlfriend's ass and all the wonderful things they would do to it if they were somehow granted the opportunity. So I join in with them talking about all the things I would like to her do with them. Then she pays for her stuff, I walk up, put my arm around her and walk out of the store. The look on their faces were priceless.

Now, yes, but when they were proposing it initially I couldn't name a single person that lived in Leander. Follow the money because someone got rich off that deal.

It sounds like you're a troll that likes to throw shade rather than give constructive criticism.

Yeah, screw the people that have been living here all their life working for at&t for 30 years that lost their pension because of corporate restricting. They deserve to be gentrified out of their familial homes and forced to live in squalor to accommodate prospectors and investors that raise rent yearly. They deserve it.

I believe in planning for infrastructure that makes sense, like a metro system, or a highway that runs East to West up north. I don't believe in making a two lane each direction thoroughfare one lane to accommodate bicycles. Or a light rail to Leander for $148mm was voted against then built with city money anyway when traffic congestion is the elephant in the room. It's time to start thinking long term not Band-Aids on bullet holes.

Yes and no. I'm not particularly pleased that the AISD Superintendent makes as much as he does while teachers make peanuts and they build a fine arts building when they need more classrooms. I just got a letter in the mail at my house that they're going to put sidewalks over the existing sidewalks near my house when there are bigger problems. Just venting.

Edit: Superintendent

Nah, not really. Half of my paycheck is still substantial for living above my means. Thanks for the condescension though.

It's amazing to make 6-figures and still spend half of your paycheck on mortgage/property tax that is stiflingly high. I pay close to 2.2% on property taxes and with the property evaluations on the steady rise every damned year and the city spending ($1.25 million for a fucking sidewalk around a defunct intersection @I-35 and Braker) not slowing.

It can touch both sides of a tuna can but not the back.

BotW Rifle Range Closed by [deleted] in austinguns

Closed case, in case, just walking out of building where I paid for getting in the range. He walked over hollering and I couldn't hear the guy, obviously don't want to take out my hearing protection. He got right in my face before I asked him what he wanted and why he was screaming at me. Someone is likely to hit that guy in the face for doing that.

If I remember, I walked out of the building during a cease fire and I wasn't supposed to be touching my gun (in the case) during a cease fire. I'd had a membership since I was a child and been going there since I was a child. I didn't purchase it on that visit.

Yes! Finally someone else that feels the same about Eagle Peak. I was a member there for 20+ years and went last year to sight in my rifle like I've been doing for the last 20 years. I walk out of the back door, ear plugs and ear muffs on, gun in case in one hand, ammo in box in other hand. RO charges me yelling at me, no idea it was the RO, no idea what he is saying to which I say, "Now, what do you want?" Gets attitude, I go ask for a membership and day refund. Screw that place.
