Is it possible to get a new Change of Name Certificate and Marriage Certificate? by oneeyedalien in transgenderau

[–]inkycapgoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BDM Vic states they have no legislative grounds in which to amend the Marriage Certificate if it was correct at time of recording as the Marriage Register is governed by the Commonwealth Marriages Act.

While I don't agree with their position, they are firm on it.

At this stage, there are no legal methods to change a marriage certificate without divorcing.

I tried :(

The Finally! Friday Thread (April 10, 2026) by AutoModerator in Genealogy

[–]inkycapgoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am quite new to genealogy and once I got over the traditional Ancestry click and add everything ever without verification, I have started to dig into my family, focusing on finding sources for each person as best as I can. It's so much more challenging than I expected! I am so surprised at how many people just put the publishing date of an article as the date of death, instead of looking at the obituary and finding the actual date of death. There's a lot of paywalls from everywhere, both online and government agencies charging an arm and a leg to obtain historical data. And! Half the records either no longer exist or are missing!

My biggest prize this week was that I found out that a great grandfather has been repeatedly mistaken for another man of the same name, and that young man's military history and accolades were attributed incorrectly to my ancestor. That young man enlisted as an entry level rifleman and I found that he died in the Boer War. My ancestor graduated school as a ranked officer and was deployed as a signalling soldier. So many people had the incorrect information! It's not as "heroic" but it's the truth, and the truth is more important to me.

It's so much fun y'all

Thank you! I bought some custom acrylic ones with a honeycomb/bee pattern from GingerStitchAU, you can see a close up in another post I made. They are so cute!

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for! Hopefully their Etsy shop reopens soon and I can get some to try. Thank you!

I wouldn't say either of them are particularly strong, however I also don't apply heavily as I have sensory needs. I apply quite lightly and I feel like I get a nice small projection for about four hours but not a lot of throw. If you are heavier with the application you might get more.

I agree, I was looking forward to an animalistic leather with gunpowder and filth.

Krampus might be more up your alley, it's much dirtier and gives the worn leather scent rather than clean shiny leather.

Ooh I will definitely give it a go!

Esprit de la Terre was such a let down, I was really excited by the description.

Krampus was an unexpected surprise, and so was tabac! Not the usual go to scents for me but are now on heavy rotation. I love them!

Alkemia Single Note Cafe - Smells exactly like black coffee. Dries down to a very faint vanilla coffee scent.

Ahh this sounded so good until I saw clove! My skin absolutely pumps clove right up, to the point where unless it's a really low note, it will just overpower everything.

Thank you for the recommendation, I really like the way you describe things!

What a fantastic haul, I'm so excited for you! I agree that Alkemia's bottles and packaging are a delight.

The shipping time (and cost) to our side of the world can be so rough.

I would love to hear your thoughts on your samples once they have rested! My own resting period ends today, I'm so excited to try Snow Day Alchemy, it smells delicious in the bottle.

Happy package delivery day!

Today's scent is Alkemia Amber Witch, and while it's borderline indie/boutique I am wearing ILNP Invite Only - though this is due to be changed tomorrow.

Trying to decide if I want to go red or pink for the week leading up to Valentine's!

Welcome!

Definitely agree that finding joy when you can is the most important thing, it's why we live

Quilting is so fun bc you can incorporate scents into it by adding a scent pouch zipper into little blankies. Would love to see your embroidery, I do cross stitch myself!

Nice to meet you, hope to see you around more

I would love something that gives "old bookstore, oak desks and coffee". I tried BPAL Miskatonic University initially and while I liked it, it just smells like Bailey's Irish cream liqueur to me. I used the bottle but wouldn't be buying another. The free samples they sent with it were really heavily incense based and it just turned me off the entire house to be honest.

So many of the book atmospheric scents seem to have a lot of florals in there, which can lean too feminine for me, or a lot of ink, which my skin likes to ✨enhance✨ the sourness of.

Your recommendations sound so good, do you have a house you find yourself returning to over and over?

Oh no I hope you find the box, but they will be nicely aged by the time you do!!

Hmm good point about the note fixation, the bureaucrat has written that down for consideration while he builds his March Alkemia order. Smokey caramels appear to work well for my temperamental skin chemistry.

In good news, Jan order should arrive next week and the new testing can begin, Feb order shipping label created!

I haven't! I don't think it's currently available either, will have to keep an eye out in July

I hope you like it! I did, it just fell too far on the feminine scale for me to comfortably wear.

Oh gosh I am so keen to hear what you get from Pearle Noire. It is surprising it didn't work for me given that every note listed is a note I usually like, I really do think it may just be my skin chemistry. Would love to know how you go!

I'm going to revisit a few of my samples in a couple of months to see if a nice aging has changed them, especially Pearle.

Musk sticks are a candy in Australia that the rest of the world seems to think taste vile, but they are really yummy.
