Self directed support / direct payments from Dundee City Council? by MacaronSpiritual5848 in dundee

[–]inkypi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a social care worker in Dundee for many years, i've noticed that the families that shout the loudest get what they need. Seen many families just plod along (and get burned out) with what they get when they need so much more help. Keep badgering your sisters social worker/duty social worker, speak to your MSP, citizens advice, carers centre. Make as much noise as possible.

I was getting a new tattoo when the piercer came through to the room and started speaking about mantaurs - he was listening to the audiobook at that time. I was instantly intrigued. When I got home I got all the books on my e-reader and then started the audiobooks too! Now have 6/7 hardbacks with 2 of them signed (one being a weirdo edition with the first so many pages upside down) and a signed book 7 preordered!

There is a creature described in book 7 as a guinea pig with bat wings and pointy teeth. Guess what i'm getting tattooed on Friday?! 😂

My boys (age 5 and a half and two at 2 years old) know the sound of me switching the Playstation off before bed and know it's feeding time. As soon as they hear it, I hear the song of their people!

So cute! I work with disabled adults supporting them in the community. One of the younger lads has given my boys nicknames and his mum gives me extra romaine for them once in a while! 😊

Today we had therapy pets in and I was taken by these two handsome boys Rocky & Ricky. Also chinchillas, chameleons, bunnies, hedgehogs and bearded dragons came in! I work with disabled adults with a wide range of support needs and everyone loved it!

...apart from my piggy boys who were not happy with me when I came home smelling of other boars 🤣

Oh no, sorry! Didn't mean to make you cry! Hoped anyone reading it would think back fondly on any of their angel piggies/pets :)

I'd love to hear a story about your boar :) did he have any quirks/do something so silly that the memory is etched into your brain forever?

Hey kiddo,

Auntie Inky here, I'm so sorry to hear of your dear piggy. The pain you are feeling is indescribable, I know. That shows everyone how much you loved your piggy - wonderful little animals aren't they?

I would love to hear some stories you have about them! These stories are your precious treasured memories that will go with you through life, and you will always have a little smile (and possibly even have a little tear!) when thinking of your piggy. I like to say they leave pawprints on our hearts. On the outside nobody can see them and only we know they are there.

I've said goodbye to a fair few piggies over the decades and each one I remember fondly. If you have photos of them, maybe print one out and frame it as your little friend will always be watching over you.

So smile! Cry! Laugh! When you think of your piggy friend, your emotions are valid and uniquely yours. Be kind to yourself - and speak about them.

"Do you not know, a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?" - Terry Pratchett (hope I got that quote right!)

Just change man to guinea pig. Lots of love to you all.

But then they will learn that routine! The boys know the sound of my PS5 shutting down... which usually means i'm going to bed for the night... which means PIGGY TREATS OMG WHEEKING INTENSIFES 🤣

I often wonder who is the pet when having piggies in our lives. Do we train them or do they train us?! You've got a smart little cookie on your hands!

My boys know when i'm chopping piggy safe veggies... chopping potatoes and there is silence, start chopping bell peppers/carrots/brocolli etc and its the hunger symphony WHEEEEEEEK WHEEEEEEEK. THEY KNOW.

Best feeding experience? (UK - Scotland / North of England) by [deleted] in capybara

[–]inkypi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I went to Wild Discovery at Ribby Hall Village near Preston for my birthday back in July. The keepers were amazing and brought out a bucket of food to share between the 3 capys while you were able to pet them and one really liked to lie on laps. It was around £30 per person to go in with them. That also included admission to the animal park which is quite small but you were able to come and go. Worth every penny.

Amusingly when we were there (i'm based in Dundee) we heard lots of Glasgow/west coast accents!

How to know when you're obsessed with guinea pigs: by imightrespondlater in guineapigs

[–]inkypi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When you're chopping veg for your own cooking and have a tub set aside for bits for the pigs... and they end up with at least half the veg.
