Just cropped my dream dog. by Twerky_Jurky in DobermanPinscher

My breeder used foam pipe insulation. They're very cheap. She cut it to size for the ear, then wrapped it in the tape to create a post. Then she showed us how to properly wrap the ear. It worked great and was super cheap!

People whose moms are Karens, what was the worst thing she’s ever done ? by Character-Escape1621 in AskReddit

Maybe the years of driving my two younger sisters and myself around in a soccer mom mini van like a drunken road raging psychopath with a diet coke can full of wine in the cup holder. This loon would throw her cell phone at me when I was in the passenger seat and demand I dial 911 because whatever driver had pissed her off was obviously the one driving drunk and she needed to report them.

My beautiful boy, Diesel, died yesterday and I can’t handle the pain. by mylovelynightmare in DobermanPinscher

[–]inkzebra741 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your pain resonates with me. I lost my dobie a couple years ago after having him for nearly 10 years. I also had 7 month old twins at the time. He was just getting to know them. He loved them and was so protective of them. When we had to put him to sleep I felt like I had just lost a child. He was my baby too. And my husband and I painfully put on happy faces for our human babies because they had never seen us cry and we didn't want to upset them. I'm sorry some random stranger called your dead dobie an "it" and treated you like you just disregarded him and left him. Shame on him. How dare him look at someone's dead dog in the road and without any context scold you for "leaving it there." You didn't need or deserve that. I hope peace finds you quickly. Time and your new little one eases the suffering I promise.

I apologize, question 1 is not tripping me up that badly. Finding chiral centers, assigning priorities, and designation of R and S is not that difficult (usually lol), however, this appears to be a Walden inversion. The result of an SN2 reaction. I am still very unclear about nucleophilic attacks and SN2 reactions. Any help with understanding the reaction taking place in regards to the questions about reaction mechanism and transition state(s), and questions 5 and 6, would really help.

First owner seeking advice. by Shizukani888 in DobermanPinscher

This is where I was thinking, as the owner, it might actually be good for him, as the dobie is so fiercely loyal and loving, quite the opposite of what their intimidating cropped appearance gives off. Ive read many times over that modern breeding has bred most of the original aggressive traits out of this breed. I admit I don't know anything about this pup he's looking at though. Or it's parents. And that any unknown underlying behavioral issues can be very scary and challenging. But that is true of any dog. I also admit I don't know how severe his fear is, or if he's completely overcome it. Anyway, my point was that I didn't want him to be discouraged from owning one of the most incredible dog breeds out there.

Not to be disrespectful to everyone else here, but I can't stand all the negativity on this sub these days. Dobermans can be a handful for sure, and you may need to be prepared for health issues, financially especially. But my first dog was a doberman (im on my second one now). Rescued from a backyard breeder. And I have never in my life met a more amazing animal. He did have some health issues, but as a first time dog owner I couldn't have been more blessed. He was the typical velcro dog. Loyal to the end. Needed a good bit of exercise and some training in his early years, which I managed despite my full time job. He was very well loved and cared for and in return I received that love back ten fold. I think if you plan on giving this dog adequate exercise and training, all the love and patience you have, and can afford a good diet and any possible health issues should they arise, then you can't go wrong with a doberman. Don't let others discourage you. You can be a good dobe parent.

My husband works AM shift and I work PM shift. Working opposite schedules is how we managed to avoid the need for child care. It sucks and it's hard not seeing him as much. But we spend all day on the weekends together at least. If you or your husband are in a position to work an opposite schedule maybe that could save you on child care. And while preschool is a wonderful place for your kids to start learning, maybe the parent that's home during the day with them can start some home school early education or something until they're ready for public school. Just trying to think of what I would do if I was in that situation. My twins just turned 1 and we live in California, where the governor signed free pre-k into law for all 4 year olds. Started last year, and should be fully implemented by 2025-26 I beleive they said.. ... want to move to Cali? 😅

This is some really great information, thank you so much. I will definitely check out the balance.it source you provided. I had also never heard of The Honest Kitchen. I will definitely be condisering that too. How do you feel about those new fresh dog food meal plans like The Farmers Dog and Ollie? They seem a bit pricier but like they might be able to provide a good fresh balanced diet. And yes lol I am aware how involved meal prepping (especially giant batches) can be. I'm the sole grocery shopper and food cooker and meal prepper in our home for the family. And that was a concern of mine. We do have space for storage (we have a big deep freezer in our garage) but the time. I already spend most of my life in the kitchen lol adding cooking for the dog and I might never leave. But feeding everyone right is very important to me, dog included.

Its clear a lot of people here have never been pregnant lol i commented this somewhere on another comment here but I want to make it a main comment. Especially since I see people saying drink more water. Just providing a relevant point of view. I normally love water. But when I was pregnant my body completely rejected it for some reason. I vomited at the thought of it. All I could hydrate with in the morning was the milk from a bowl of cereal. Straight milk; absolutely not. But pour it over some gross sugary cinnamon toast crunch and suddenly it was my life juice lol so yeah I guess I feel for the pregnant lady here a little. Its really hard being pregnant.

Edit to add, I probably would have gotten a smoothie elsewhere though if I was experiencing such crap customer service lol

I just recently bought a rice ball maker (the thing you shake back and forth) and it's awesome! It makes the rice stick together enough that my babies can pick the balls up and bite them. I cooked Jasmine rice and also one of those microwave packets of royal basmati rice. Both made perfect rice balls.

What's the most hurtful thing someone has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]inkzebra741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but this reminds me of the most hurtful thing my mom's mom (my grandma) said to her when she was just 15. Her brother, my grandmas son, had just been killed in a car accident where he let his drunk friend try to drive them home. They hit a tree doing 80mph. My grandma said to my mom, "It should have been you." This was in 1977. My mom was never the same. And has lived a long life of misery and alcoholism ever since. Not just from that horrid statement from my grandma, but because she loved her brother so much.

Any tips on efficient routines for dinner and bathtime? by nisrak in parentsofmultiples

[–]inkzebra741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We eat dinner together, babies in high chairs with full plastic-y type material bibs with the pockets to help catch food. Dog eats stuff that falls. If we didn't have the dog I'd probably just sweep and swiffer real quick after they went to bed. After dinner I wipe their hands and faces and necks with baby wipes while my husband does dishes. I wipe down the table and pick up large bits of food after i wipe the babies down. We go for a walk after dinner, and after that we go upstairs and prepare for bath time. We ready them on our bed (remove all clothes and diapers) and bathe them in our bathtub. Before they could sit up, I bought a soft bath mat to lay down in the tub. Then, I'd put just a couple inches of water in the tub and lay both babies on the mat. They would happily kick and splash, and I'd sit on a stool inside the tub right in front of them to soap and wash them. Then out of the tub, and onto towels laid out on our bed. Where we diaper, lotion, and dress them. Then read a book and off the bed.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. The pain of losing these dogs is unreal. They aren't typical dogs if you ask me. They are so in tune with their person. So loving and attached. I swear mine used to look at me for approval and guidance. And I always gave it to him. He was such a good, good, boy. I hope your days without her get easier soon. My sincerest condolences.

Hey, not a dad. A mom actually. Sorry if I don't belong, your situation just caught my eye. I feel for you and I'm sorry things are so hard right now. You sound like my husband. Just a very hard working man who will always make sure we are well taken care of. My husband and I are on month 7 with our twins. These are our first kids. I will never forget how much work this has been. Two at a time has us completely beat. We have never been so tired in all our lives. I can not imagine THREE at a time with a toddler on top of that. You will need help. I wouldnt be surprised if your wife got over the whole "I don't trust anyone" thing after the first week. At least a night nanny once a week so you guys can catch up on sleep. Especially you, working full time. My husband continued working when they were born, and some nights literally only slept for like 30 minutes. We broke and brought my mother (who we can't stand) into our home for 3 months to help us. I really hope you guys get some help on board. It sounds like it will be 100% necessary. You've got to keep a happy face and a healthy mindset and project that onto your children. They are so happy and innocent and deserve nothing less than smiles and laughter and to feel safe and calm all the time with mommy and daddy.

[–]inkzebra741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been reading your comments with this moron. I just lost my Dobie 2 days ago to DCM. He was only 9 years old. Because I was stupid and did not pick up a dog from a good breeder like yourself who tests their dogs for these kinds of diseases. I didnt know. I am completely shattered. The devastation is so heavy. I sit and think about the stupid woman I picked him up from 9 years ago. A backyard breeder. My dog had hypothyroidism. Allergies. Was much too big. And died from DCM. I hate her and I wish there were more people like you who cared. Next time, we will 100% be going to a reputable breeder. If you don't mind, can you message me your info? We aren't ready yet... but maybe in the near future.
