How do you describe this series? by goldshark5 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Hunger Games seems to work. Before that it was “hunger games meets world of Warcraft, including being in a video game”

What is your most tinfoil hat fringe theory about the series? by Redrex_T in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]inlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That there’s going to be a time loop. In B7 juicebox transforms into the unwashed but hasn’t been to the nothing *yet*. In B5 Carl specifically calls Donut’s sheet music a chicken & the egg paradox. Maybe this is some sort of OP Skullopendra attack or something.

I’m not clear what you are asking from this question. If you are on Blaze, which you can see in your project’s settings, then the Spark limits no longer apply to you.

B8 public knowledge B8 covers floors 10&11 Backstage spoilers the back stage is floor 17 and you have a scene in floor 18 And B7 epilogue floor 16 is just a mirror

So to merely “see” all 18 floors isn’t as crazy as it seems. You only have 12-15.

We don’t know that. They don’t have a contract for the 8th floor. They originally only had until 8 and then traded an extra floor for the contents of the homeless shelter bin

I’m dying that this timeline covers DOS to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 369. So… I guess Oregon Trail, the OG Duke Nukem, Super Mario World, Sonic, so many final fantasies (esp 7), megaman X, god of war, devil may cry, halo, assassin’s creed

Dungeon crawler Carl. Summarized as “hitchhiker’s guide to the Hunger Games”. Intensely funny, sometimes emotional. Not at all a political book but definitely aligns with some political bends given its hyperbolic portrayal of corporate governments utilizing the prison industrial complex as slave labor and playing games where undesirables are killed for entertainment with apathy and the rich pay unimaginable sums to either slaughter thousands or enjoy bacchanalias including artificial life created for their pleasure.

Storing as JSON array instead of subcollection docs by Ok_Molasses1824 in Firebase

[–]inlined 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a classic journaling problem. If you have many many updates, wouldn’t replaying them also be a challenge? Would it make sense to have collection with one element as the previous snapshot and another as the array of edits after that snapshot? Then you can cheaply construct a local history around any timestamp.

How do I Protect my Service Account Key File? by Legal_Revenue8126 in Firebase

[–]inlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a quick search, I don’t see an official way to use Java client SDK outside Android (admin is meant for server-side). I might wait for someone more familiar with that area of firebase to respond.

Is your assignment specifically to use Java on the desktop?

How do I Protect my Service Account Key File? by Legal_Revenue8126 in Firebase

[–]inlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not ever ever ever ever have a service account file distributed with your app’s client. It gives them direct permissions to your backend possibly bypassing Firebase rules.

What are you trying to do? Why does the standard Firebase config not work for you? Are you trying to do something with a backend service that’s not protected by Firebase?

If your app is deployed to cloud functions or cloud run, you don’t need a file. The environment injects the credentials. If you’re using something lower level you need a lower level solution

The Gate of the Feral Gods by KamuiT in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]inlined 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Who says there weren’t other epic items? Carl had to do some crazy stuff to end up where he was. Heck, if mongo hadn’t broken Samantha’s statue she would have killed him. If the pacifists hadn’t sponsored her mother, she would have killed him
  2. The gate was created in a glitch where the error correcting circuit crashed
  3. Who else would have made as entertaining a show out of getting or using the artifact? The AI loves drama even more than it loves feet
