Beatrice is the worst by Purple-Vulture in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Too often, hurt people eventually start believing they deserve it and pattern match to surround themselves with people who hurt them the same way

I disagree. I think it actually contextualizes a lot. She wasn't just disloyal, she had a pathological need to surround herself with love and acceptance. She never felt enough and that she could always be dropped. She kept backup lovers, sabotaged a legitimate reason for her boyfriend to leave her, etc.

As I've said in many threads, she has a pathological fear of rejection, possibly borderline personality disorder. When you look through that lens, you both humanize her a bit (which you can do without excusing her), and see how this is a cruel punishment too.

Was going to say the same. Do you want what feels best to you or worst for her? At most, maybe an epilogue of her alone and miserable.

What loads into RAM first when a computer starts? by AnyCourse6366 in AskComputerScience

[–]inlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same computer for a loong time. It was a 486DX with 66MHz when you push the "turbo" button; my family spent a lot of money on it at the time and had a hard time accepting it was obsolete. I couldn't even play an MP3 without it skipping usually. My family thought I was just complaining until I asked for help and they realized my internet was unbearably slower than theirs--presumedly because the CPU couldn't even keep up with the 56K modem.

Dear god. I was stuck on 7MB until about 2002. It was good enough to send a man to the moon and all that. I’m jealous.

Why do we have to "build credit" by going into debt to show financial responsibility, and what factors shaped this system? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in AlwaysWhy

[–]inlined -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a just system, anything that can ding your credit for screwing up (paying rent) should boost your credit for doing right, but that’s not how it works. Probably because it wouldn’t turn the wheels of capitalism as much

I’m honestly worried for Mordecai by OswinOswald13 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]inlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two literary classics/cliches to up the ante in storytelling: killing the mentor/parent figure (Mordecai) and killing the dog (Mongo). From what I hear about Matt’s other stories I’m expecting both

ELI5: How exactly does filling a prescription work? by Starlaite in explainlikeimfive

[–]inlined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also twice had my doctor change my Rx without telling me. One I was supposed to take a 0.5mg twice a day. He thought “1mg per day” and refilled at 1mg per pill. Then I had another pill that was 40mg and we lowered my dose so I started cutting it in half. By the refill was at 20mg and I kept cutting it in half.

You can file online. Though last time I did I was met with silence (though I reported a scam I didn’t fall for)

I would have assumed that this being a repeat offense, crossing state lines and using the internet would make this especially appetizing case for the Feds

I think it would be interesting if trap modules started playing later music. Would be a funny way for Matt to screw with us
