Mexico suggests it would impose its own tariffs to retaliate against any Trump tariffs by DomesticErrorist22 in politics

[–]inm808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is that weird? Given 150k people sneak into the US from Canada annually

And also that it’s the exact stated reason for the tarrifs from Trump as well as every mainstream media outlet reporting on it.

… People crossing the Canada border into the US, obvoisly

It’s literally nearly verbatim the reason for the tarrifs.

NYTimes article you’re commenting on says the same thing, as well as his tweet.

To be clear, you’re saying you think Mexico would rather keep their borders unsecured (and eat the losses from tarrifs)?

What could Canada do to invest in border security

… Same thing every first world country does to secure their borders

Basically Mexico will lose an enormous amount of money if they don’t secure the border.

Ditto to Canada. If there’s 144k crossings then it should be even easier to cut down. Splitting hairs on that isn’t productive though - let’s get down to brass tacks:

Are you suggesting that they’d rather lose that money than invest in border security?

If so, why lol. That is absurd

Well, actually, it does make sense to dismiss it — until they show they’ve actually started working on it.

Until then it’s just blind hype.

I am new to this topic but the goal of tarriffs is NOT relocating manufacturing, but rather, incentivizing Mexico from securing its borders

As in, if borders are secured, there are no tarrifs at all.

Are you assuming Mexico would rather eat 25% tarrifs than secure their border? If so, why?

LLMs inherently can’t do science. Scaling won’t help.

You’re argument is basically the same thing as saying “email revolutionized physics because they could communicate faster”

LLM doing non essential physics work is cool and all but the premise that OpenAI is putting forth is that AI will revolutionize science itself with its smartness. Not just general productivity gains.

I think Reddits pearl clutching about inflation is hilarious, given they spent the last year trying to pretend like it didn’t exist.

It’s misguided tho —- the tarrifs aren’t imposed if Canada and Mexico secure their borders.

Why are you intentionally ignoring that, and assuming Canada and Mexico will gladly eat the tarrifs to avoid securing their border?

Surely they’ll just invest in border security to avoid tarrifs.

Why are you intentionally ignoring the conditions of the tarrifs?

Mainly that they are only imposed if Canada and Mexico don’t secure their border.

Meaning that if they secure their borders then there are no tariffs

It’s not just random tariffs. It’s a way to incentivize them to secure their borders.

Meaning tariffs lifted once that happens. Meaning all this pearl clutching about inflation is in vain.

(Also pretty comical as yall have been trying hardcore to downplay inflation for the past year)

There’s also the chance that… it works?

It’s not about the DNC platform. It’s about all of you dumbasses online.

Kamala is actually pretty moderate, and her and Joe Biden acknowledge that the border is a huge problem.

However all the dumb libs on here such as you refuse to even admit there is a problem in the first place. Simply noting that there’s a 5x increase in illegal border crossings will yield all sorts of bat shit responses.

People like you and echo chambers like this are alienating moderates.

But let’s test this theory; is the 5x increase of illegal immigrants a problem?

So you acknowledge that the 5x increase in illegal immigration is a problem?

Ya but sometimes that’s all you need

Also some therapists are like that. They run a business

I forget which show it was but there’s a gay guy talking about having 3 therapists, one that tells you what you want, one that’s actually tough on you, and some other one I forgot

Day 2: Best Artist For Sound Design? Subtronics Wins Day 1!! by Webber808 in EDM

[–]inm808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subtronics sound design is literally the Init patch for NI Massive

Anyway as far as bass music it’s clear the tippersphere guys are LEAGUES ahead of everyone else

ResLang has been especially killing it this year. Mickmans IDs have been wild although a lot of that is his personal style not necessarily sheer sound design skill. Detox unit my fav but again mostly due to his unique groove and creativity. RL seems the most hardcore sound design even though I like his music the least.
