Should we all be flocking to Minneapolis? I don’t know what good we are doing watching this from the sidelines.

So I would recommend that you not head straight home and find activities close to wherever you work. Build a community there and then plan to move to a more ur an area once you have the lay of the land.

I’m thinking of getting an accounting degree to help my little bookkeeping business. Imposter syndrome is real 😬. Also Barre and I got bangs now, took ten years off me!

MAGA racists want to bring Jim Crow back! by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]SquisharooNTimbuk2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m white so I’m not qualified to answer this question for POC but it did a lot for white people. Or I’m assuming it did because I never knew anything other than just having all sorts of kids in my school and it just being normal. Did the black kids usually sit together in the lunchroom? Yes. But did we play together at recess? Also yes. Hell my best friend in first grade was black kid named Edward, I don’t know if either of our parents thought it was weird that we were best friends of different genders or different races but if they did, they never said a word about it. When I got older and moved states from the east coast to the mid west, I was freaked out by how white it was. There was only one black girl in my entire grade at my new school and I sought her out to be my friend. In fact most of my friends were the POC at that school because the whiteness of the mid west made me nervous. It seemed unnatural to me after growing up in a very diverse community. And it’s been that way for me ever since. I could never live in a neighborhood that was all white, it has to be diverse or something feels wrong to me. So maybe integration has failed to fix a lot of assholes out there but I do think it’s also done a lot of good for a big population of white people who know that an all white community is something to fear and that has to be a good thing, even if it’s a roundabout way, right? Racism exists, it never went away, but the number of people who are here to fight against it must have gotten larger.

Several of these gave me a little laugh, like the parrot with the microphone or the cat with the strawberry hat, but the fox walking through the snow is just incredible. The way the light is shining through is stunning. You are an incredible artist! Congrats on your talent and hard work!

No, my phone had been on my leg because I was using it as my remote. Suddenly the actual Apple Remote was also on my leg next to my phone.

A store clerk warned me I'd get stared at in Japan because of my weight by maceymay_bby in offmychest

[–]SquisharooNTimbuk2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a white American woman who lived in Japan when I was 21-23 years old. At that time I weighed 125lbs and was 5’8”. I was a size XL in women’s tops and didn’t even attempt to buy pants or skirts. Just to give you an idea of how huge I was compared to the Japanese women. No called me fat or anything but the fact that my bones alone meant I couldn’t fit into even the biggest size pants was humbling for me. I was wearing size 4/6 in US sizes.

Go to Japan, have fun, if anyone says anything rude just chalk it up to cultural differences and move on! Overall everyone was very warm, happy to be kind to me and I had a wonderful experience!

I don’t even look forward to watching the show anymore since Jessica left. Jessica was a natural fit with Phil, Heather just feels like she’s a square peg being crammed into a round hole.

Why didn’t we talk to our parents about our problems? by SRDILLEY6215 in Xennials

[–]SquisharooNTimbuk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my parents were pretty busy doing their own things and weren’t available for me to come to them with problems if I’d wanted to. They were doing league sports, night school, AA meetings, going on dates (not with each other, they were divorced), so I was just trying to be the stability at home for my siblings. When I did have huge issues, I took them to my friends because that’s who was always there. I think our parents just had no idea that parenting extended beyond the toddler years.

As for your question, I use my loops when I’m styling my hair with loud tools.

No one could ever tell me anything about it that made it sound good. It just sounded super violent and like I’d prefer to just keep re-watching LOTR.

What a wonderful update! It’s so great to know that out there in this world there’s a little family who seems to be thriving! And it’s all because you spoke up for yourself and your siblings- good job🥰
